Kiss me i'm contagious: A sonny moore romance:part ten
|
*Sonny’s POV*
“Hey Sonny, it’s Lauren. I read on a MySpace bulletin that you guys quit the tour. Are you here in LA? Call me back. I wanna hang. We haven’t in so long, and I miss you. Love you,” one of my messages said on my cell phone. Lauren was one of the few people who kept me sane. I listened to the rest of my messages from people who had ignored me when I was in school, but when the band started going places, they began to call me all the time. I needed to change my number. I called Lauren back.
“Hey Sonny,” she said happily.
“Hey Lauren,” I said smiling. Just hearing her voice made me calm.
“So when did you get back?”
“Yesterday afternoon. I had to go to the doctor to get a recommendation to a clinic that specializes in this sort of stuff. Then I went to sleep as soon as I got home.”
“When do you get your operation?”
“In a week, I think. I don’t remember. I was half asleep when I was there. I’ve been sleeping a lot lately.”
“That’s weird. Wanna go for a walk or get something to eat?”
“Yeah, pick me up. You can take me anywhere as long as it’s not the mall. I don’t want the posers to see me.”
“Oh, have they been calling you again?”
“Yeah, I need to get my number changed.”
“That sucks. I’ll be over there in a few minutes.” I hung up and went downstairs. My mom was sitting on the couch and said,
“A few weeks ago someone was standing on our doorstep for about five minutes. I looked out of one of the windows and damn near had a heart attack. It looked like Stacey Moore. Then I thought, ‘No way, she lives in New York.’ When was the last time you talked to her?”
“I don’t know, like two years ago. I think she moved. My letters kept getting sent back, so I stopped sending any,” I replied walking into the computer room.
“Well, that’s too bad.” I signed on MySpace real quick to accept the flood of friend requests I had. I quickly scrolled through all my new comments to see the same things. “Sonny, get well soon.” There were the occasional weird ones, though. I heard a horn honk outside. I closed the window and got out of the chair.
“I’m going out with Lauren. I’ll be back later.”
“Okay, be careful. I love you.”
“Love you too.” I got in the passenger seat of her black 2003 Mustang GT. She smothered me in her hug. She let go, and I got a good look at her. She had medium length brown hair and hazel eyes. She looked gorgeous, just like I remembered her. If we hadn’t been best friends for so long, and I didn’t love Stacey, I would totally have a thing for her. Smiling, she backed out of the driveway.
“I know the perfect place where no one will see you. It’s a new little caf in the south part of town where there are stalls sort of where the tables are. There are shutters to block it off from everyone else. The waiter is the only one allowed to open them. It’s really nice for a date. I’ve been there once or twice,” she said winking.
“With the same guy?”
“One night stands baby!” I laughed. “No, I’m just kidding. I have a boyfriend now.” She started blushing.
“Who is it?”
“Jono,” she said quietly blushing even more.
“Jono Evans?! Gosh, I’ve really been out of the loop!” I said feeling a little angry.
“Well, I would’ve told you, but we only made it official a week ago. I didn’t wanna go bragging about it or anything.”
“I understand.”
“Have you met anyone?”
“No but something really weird happened on the tour.”
“We’re here. Tell me inside.” We walked inside the place and it was mostly elderly couples.
“You came here for a date with Jono?” I asked trying to hold back a laugh.
“Yeah, all the old people don’t stay out late, so it’s perfect.” We both laughed. The waiters and waitresses seemed to be middle aged. You really could get major privacy here. We ordered drinks and the waiter closed the shutters to our table before he walked off. “So, what happened?”
“Wow,” I said sighing. “I don’t know how to say it. So much has happened these past two weeks.”
“Just spill the beans. You’ll feel better.”
“Okay.” I took a deep breath. “Stacey Moore was there,” I blurted out. Lauren’s eyes bulged as she shook her head.
“No way! Are you serious?” I nodded. “Well, what happened? I know something happened!”
“It was the first night and I saw her on the side of the stage. I took her somewhere where we could talk, and she said she got a job on staff. She also told me awful things about herself.” I stopped and took another deep breath. I couldn’t cry again especially in a public place.
“What things?” Lauren asked lightly touching my arm.
“She was bulimic, anorexic, and had body dysmorphic disorder.”
“Wow. Oh my god. It sounds like you two were in the same boat. Did you tell her that?”
“No. She guessed from the ‘Waltz Moore’ song.”
“What else happened? It sounds normal to me. Just catching up.”
“Things were going really good the first few days, so I asked her to spend the night on our bus. I thought everything was great, almost like old times when we were together, but she got sick in the bathroom. I knew she was really making herself throw up, so I went in there after her and found her toothbrush. I knew she used it to do it. I confronted her about it, and she started talking about ‘Waltz Moore.’ I swore on my mother’s life and she asked which one. I lost my cool and hurt her.”
“What did you do to her?” she asked quietly. The shutters opened and the waiter gave us our drinks and we gave him our orders. He left again. I took a deep breath.
“I threw her against the wall and knocked her out,” I said starting to tear up. This was really hard to talk about. Lauren’s eyes bulged as she shook her head.
“How could you do that?”
“I don’t know. I was just so angry with her for hurting herself like that. I just got frustrated and couldn’t control myself.”
“Sonny, I don’t believe it. What else happened? Didn’t you guys talk it out?”
“I saw her kissing the singer from The Academy Is… and decided they weren’t one of my favorite bands anymore. (We smiled.) Will and I got in a fight. He kept hanging out with Stace, and I hung back. I kept getting sick too from the heat. Throwing up and stuff. I had to sit out a couple of signings. Then I missed a show or two and got my throat checked out. They said I had to leave.
“Stacey came by before we left and we got in a fight. I was jealous of her and Will, and she got defensive about it and told me I was pretty much selfish and self-absorbed. I don’t know. It’s fucking screwed up. One thing she did say though was that she loved me. Loved, in the past tense. That killed me. I think I’m depressed again. That’s why I’m sleeping so much.” There were a few moment of silence.
“Okay. That was a lot to take in. I hope you’re not depressed again. I like you better when you’re not. I think you should call her to straighten things out.”
“Why bother? She won’t have time to talk. She’ll be too busy with Will.”
“Shut up. You don’t know until you try.”
“Yeah, you’re right. I think I’ll get one of the other guys to talk to her first to see if she’s even willing to talk to me again.”
“Yeah, that’s a good idea.” The shutters opened and the waiter set our plates down on the table and left. I devoured my turkey sandwich quickly and had to wait thirty minutes for Lauren to finish. We left a tip and went to the cashier. I paid for the whole thing and we got in her car. “Where to now?”
“Would you mind going to the Cingular store with me to change my number?”
“Sure, let’s do it!” We both laughed and she floored it.
*Stacey’s POV*
“I called Matt and told him to tell the rest of the guys that you were in the hospital,” Devin told me when I woke up.
“Why would you tell them? They’re gonna get all worried,” I protested sitting up. Every inch of my body ached.
“Sorry, I thought you would’ve wanted them to know.”
“It’s okay. Can I get some damn morphine in here?”
“Press the red button on that remote.” I pressed it three times until someone ran in the room.
“I need morphine,” I said to the nurse.
“Well, glad to see you’re up. I’ll go get some and the doctor too. He’ll want to see you.”
“Okay, hurry please.” She walked quickly out of the room. I closed my eyes and Sonny’s face was there. I opened them again and saw Devin turning on the TV. I closed my eyes and the whole scene from the night before with Will played in my head. TAI Will, not Cartel Will. I opened my eyes to see the doctor walking in.
“Hello Stacey. My name is Doctor Smith. We found out that the problem was that you were dehydrated. You also need to be eating more. Your weight is at a dangerous level. I understand that you’re out there sweating everyday, but you need to eat more than you sweat off. I’ve made a plan for you. You’ll do well to follow it, or you’ll be in even more serious trouble.”
“Yes, sir,” I said knowing damn well that I wasn’t going to follow a food chart.
“We’ve been giving you plenty of fluids through tubes and such. You’re almost at a good enough level to where we can release you. You’ll be up drinking and eating for most of the night.” I nodded. “Well, I’ll be back later.” He and the nurse left.
“Look over this stuff. I’ve been inside this damn box for too long. I’m going outside to get some fresh air,” Devin said standing up.
“Okay, thanks for staying with me,” I said smiling a little.
“No problem.” He smiled and walked out of the room. I looked at the chart. It had me eating something every hour of the day. Everything was high in calories too. No way was I going to do that.
