I had the whole day to think about how to bring this subject up to my parents. But I couldn’t decide if I wanted to tell my mom first when it was just her and me or if I should tell them both at the same time. I started to realize this might be easier than I had thought. See my parents know I text Brad all the time and they always say that he likes me and I liked him but I always denied it. So maybe if I told them they were right it wouldn’t be so bad.

They day flew right by me and before I knew it my parents were home! I let the rest of the day carry on as if nothing was different. Then after dinner when my parents and I were watching TV I knew I had to say something about Brad and I. I had decided that I would talk to my mom about it first. But how to get her by her self….?

“Hey mom, we should go on a walk with Jetta! She’d like that!” I said watching my dog try to play with everyone and annoying them as she did so.

“Sure that would be good for her. Do you want to come along Ken?” I froze has she said that. No! Please don’t want to come along! Please!

“No not at all; go ahead have fun!” his eyes never left the TV as he talked. I took a deep breath relieved that he said no.

“Ok then we will be back in a little while.” My mom said as we got ready to leave. As we walked out the door a conversation had already took place. It made me relax a little more until that conversation ended…

“Wow are you ok? You stopped talking!” my mom said.I laughed nervously.

“Yeah I’m fine….I’m just thinking…”

“About what?” she ask curiously.

“A guy…” I said taking a deep breath.

“Brad?” She asked smiling

“Yeah…”

And before I knew it I got a yes on being able to date Brad from my mom! She was so glad I came out and told her! She told me that’s one of the reasons she wanted a girl so bad…so that she could talk to her about the boy she liked and all that. I was so glad she was happy about this. But then the nerves struck again when I remembered I still had my dad to go….
