“Oh…well let me go talk to the doctor and see what I can do.” Ben replied knowing how much I couldn’t miss them. I watched Ben leave the room wondering if I could leave. He didn’t come back for a while and my mind started to wonder off topic. How am I supposed to get up? If I can’t move my neck…how am I going to get out of this bed?

“The doctor said he’d be in in a minute he wants to talk to you since your actually awake.” I jumped. I was too deep into my silly thoughts to notice he came back in. “what were you thinking about just now?”

“Nothing….why?”

“Because you jumped.” He laughed. “It must have been something. Tell me what were you thinking about?”

I blushed. “It’s really stupid please just drop it!”

“No tell me!”

“Why do you care Ben? It’s not thing!”

“If it’s nothing than tell me!” Just then the doctor walked and I sighed. Telling Ben about that would be so pointless and embarrassing!

“Nice to see you awake Ms. Hirschmann.” I flinched as he said my last name. “How are you feeling?”

“Good.” I lied. I just wanted to get out of there!

“Well that’s good…but I don’t want you leaving for a few days. The stitches will be easy to rip so we are going to keep you here for a few days.”

“What? No they will be fine! I need to go! Please you don’t understand!” I began crying the doctor must have mistaken it for pain and said:

“No definitely not you must stay here.” With that he left the room. I just sat there crying for what seemed like forever. I forgot that Ben was still in the room when I looked over there and saw that he was bored out of his mind I felt so bad. He should be here at all. He probably had way better things to do!

“Ben you can leave if you want. You don’t have to be here. Its ok.”

“No I have nothing better to do. And I want to be here for you. I just figured that you needed time to just cry everything out.”

“Oh…”

“How about we talk about something to get your mind off of this all.”

“Ok like what?”  Right then I knew I said the wrong thing.

“What where you thinking about before?”

“Uggg fine do you really want to know?”

“Uhh yeah duh!”

“This is so embarrassing!”

“I won’t laugh.”

“Uggg fine. I was wondering how I was going to get up if I cant sit up with these stitches. Happy?”

“Actually that’s a good question….”

“Ben come on we all know that’s the most retarded thing ever!”

He laughs. “Yeah your right.”

“You said you wouldn’t laugh!!!!” I said in a hurt/just kidding voice.

“Oh come on you couldn’t expect me not to laugh at that!” I started laughing too. And soon I realized I missed being able to tell him stuff like that. Because even if it was stupid I could still tell him…. Am I starting to like him again?...
