my novel... this is just a small section of my book i am writing
|
listening to the birds in the giant treetops above me.. the smell of honeysuckle in the air; everytime the wind blows. the sunlight streaming through the new leaves above me; creating a dance of light on the forests floor. the feeling of cool damp leaves underneath me. with beautiful wildflowers pushing their way through them. racing to be the first to have the bright kentucky sun kiss their pedals.
this is my secret place. a place where i can go and be safe. a place away from my alcoholic grandfather. away from my bitch of sister; Dahlia. this is where i feel home. out here in nature.
i remember as i kid, i thought that these woods were magic. the way the leaves would turn colors in fall, the way flower pedals would close right before your eyes, if you looked long enough. i used to lay on the ground, and wait for the sun to go down. i would watch lighteningbugs fly up all around me. they seemed to dance around me. as if they were putting on a show just for me. it was magical back then. i miss those times, where everything seemed so mystical. my life now is far from magic.
i lay quietly waiting for jezebelle. jezzy was my one and only friend in the world. she was a lot like me.
dahlia and the rest of the popular girls in school ridiculed us both everyday. jezzy and i were used to it. we didnt want to be their friend anyway. they were the ones missing out; not us.
every saturday morning i meet jezzy out here in my back woods. if pappy was to see me talking to her, he would surely beat me black and blue. not because she is a bad person. but, because she is black. jezzy and her family are the only black people in our small town. her family is not excepted by anyone here. jezzys mother is a psychic. so that dosent help much with their reputation of being evil devil people as pappy joe calls them. if he ever was to find out that i go
to jezzys house every saturday, i think he would literally kill me.
i closed my eyes, and must have fallen asleep, because the next thing i knew jezzy was standing over me, out of breath, her dress torn, with a look of terror on her face.
i could have never predicted what would soon happen to me. not even jezzys momma could have predicted what was to come. my life would soon
be changed forever.

I think the story sounds interesting despite the fact that you need to work on your punctuation and sentence structure. |
