GRACES POV
I waited for Gabe to get in the car, and just sat there. How could all this happen to me? I almost started crying again as I heard the door open and Gabe get in.
“Oh, wait, are you crying?”
I just sat there and let the tears fall. I felt him hold onto me, not forceful and wanting like Ethan, but caring and gentle. I cried into his shoulder for I don’t know how long.
“What time do you have to be home?”
“I.. thinkkk likee one” I said. I was starting to sober up.
“Ok, well I’m going to take you somewhere first, is that ok?”
“Yeaa.”
We drove for a few minutes. All of a sudden, we turned into the parking lot for a corner store.
I looked at him with questioning eyes, and before I could say anything, he told me:
“This isn’t where I’m taking you, I’m just going in here to get a couple things. And a cup of coffee for you.”
“Ok,” was all I could say. So once again, I was sitting there. All alone. I wasn’t liking this, and right as I started to get a little freaked out, the car door opened. Thank god is was Gabe.
“Okay, now I can take you to where we’re going.” He handed me the coffee.
We sat in complete and total silence on the way to where we were going.
After what seemed like forever, we pulled over and parked the car. I recognized this place as where we had our first date. It was perfect, the field was surrounded by trees, and the new spring bulbs were starting to bloom already. The night time stars glittered across the black night sky.
He took my hand and led me over to a patch of grass by a tree. With him, he had a bag with apparently a blanket in it. He put the blanket down, and sat down and just laid there. I did the same and rested my head on his chest.
“I love you, Grace. Never again will I let anything harm you. With me, you will always be safe, I promise.”
“Do you really mean that, Gabe?”
“Of course, I will always love you Grace. That day that you saw the kiss with Allie, it was her kissing me, and I felt my heart drop when I saw you with tears in your beautiful eyes.”
“Then,” I said as I sat up and looked at him, “I love you Gabe. I want you to be with me forever, and always protect me.”
He sat up and took my left hand. I watched him as he took a small object out of his pocket.
“Grace Wylke, will you be my wife?”
