GABES POV

 

I walked out of the school. I almost missed my bus, but I got on just as the doors started closing. I mumbled my apologies to the driver and started to make my way to the back. I didn’t expect to see anyone that I knew, but in one of the seats, was Grace. I quickly considered if I should sit with her, but I decided against it. People were already giving her a hard enough time about being near me, so I didn’t want themto harass her about me any more than they normally would. So as I walked past her, I just slightly nodded her way. She nodded back and leaned her head against the window.

 

When I got to the back, I put my headphones on, and waited until it was time for me to get off. The bus stopped, and I looked out the window. It was my stop. I picked up my bags and got up to leave. But so did Grace. Great, now I didn’t know wether I should ask to walk her home or not. I decided to wait for that until the last minit. I took a few steps, and then tripped. One of the jocks from lunch had stuck his foot out and tripped me. Why hadn’t I seen him before. I quickly got up, and almost ran off of the bus. The doors started closing again, and I made it off just in time. Apparently Grace had just gotten off to.

 

She turned around and saw me. She looked almost happy that I was here.

 

“Are you foolowing me?” She started giggling.

 

“Yes, I am your own personal stalker.” I told her. I almost smiled, but I caught myself. “No, I actually live down there.” I pointed to the right.

 

“Me to.”

 

“So I guess you wouldn’t mind me walking you home then?”

 

“No, I guess not.”

We started walking in the direction of our houses. She was quiet for a while, and then out of nowhere, she asked,

 

“How come you moved here?”

 

I didn’t want to answer that question, but by the look in her eyes, I could tell that she wasn’t going to give up the subject easily.

 

“I don’t know if I should tell you here.”

 

“Um, ok. Oh! I know! We could go to the park!”

 

“Sure. Is it ok with your parents?”

 

“My house is right there,” she said pointing to the third house on her left. “I’ll just go in, drop off my bag, and leave them a note. They’re not home right now anyways.”

 

“K, my dad isn’t home either.”

 

“Do you want to leave your bags at my house?” she asked when we got to her front door.

 

She unlocked it. “Sure.” I told her.

 

We dropped out bags off, and she wrote the note.

 

When we got to the park, we went and sat down on the swings.

 

“So are you going to tell me?” she asked. I was hoping that she would have forgotten, but I knew that she didn’t.

 

“Ok, but first, can I trust you?” I said.

 

“Of course.”

 

“Promise you won’t hate me?”

 

“Of  course,” she said again. This time, I saw worry in her eyes.

 

“Ok, I’m going to tell you.”
