The last bell rang as we walked out of our final classes of the day. Crowds of people hurried out into the hall, eager to get home.

 

“Ok, well my locker is down the hall, so I guess I’ll see you tomorrow.” I told Gabe.

 

“Um, ok. Do I have to meet you anywhere in the morning?” he asked me.

 

“No, I usually get here early, so I’ll just come and get you by your locker. K?”

 

“Oh, um, alright.” He said and then walked away.

 

As I got to my locker, I noticed the crowd of jocks from lunch standing across from my locker. Among the group was Ethan. While I was getting my books, I noticed all of them were staring at me.

 

“What do you dumbshits want?” I asked them in an annoyed voice.

 

“Now, Grace, is that very polite?” Ethan asked.

 

“No, but you weren’t very nice to me today either. And all you jerks were horrible at lunch.”

 

Jason stepped forward. “How can you stick up for that freak?’

 

“Because he’s my friend! That’s why!” I picked up my bag, and started to walk down the hallway. All of a sudden, a firm hand grabbed my arm. A voice started whispering in my ear

 

“You’ll be sorry for acting like that towards us.”

 

“Let go of me Ethan.”

 

“Ok, but only because I’m about to miss my bus.” He let go, slapped my ass, and then walked out of the building. It amazed me how much of a perv he really was.

 

I sat down in an empty seat. The only thing on my mind was that ‘thank god Ethan was on a different bus than me.’

 

The doors started to close, but all of a sudden they opened again.

 

“Sorry bout that.” Gabe said to the driver as he walked up the steps. He slightly nodded as he walked past me, and then made his way to the last empty seat in the back. He sat down and put his headphones on.

 

When it was time for me to get off at my stop, I picked up my bag and made my way to the front. I got off and started walking, but right after the door closed, it opened again. I had only one guess as to who it was. I turned around, and my guess was correct. It was Gabe.
