We walked out of the classroom when the bell rang. I was supposed to be helping Gabe find his way through the hall, but all I wanted to do is find Ethan. How could he do this to me? How could my BEST FRIEND do this to me? When she asked me about him today in homeroom, I thought something was different, but I didn’t know. Now I do, and I wish that I didn’t.

“Hey Gabe I’ll be right back” I said to him.

“What ever,” he replied as I walked away.

“Ethan!” I yelled as I walked over to him.

“Oh, hey baby,” he said as if nothing was wrong.

“What the fuck do you think your doing feeling up my best friend?”

“I’m not going to lie to you Grace. We’ve gone to the next level. You have been to scared to make the next move with me.”  It was true. He has wanted to have sex with me before, but I couldn’t. I wasn’t that type of person.

“Ya know what Brad? WE ARE OVER! I never want to see your hideous face again!” I shouted. By then people had turned to stare. I turned and ran back to Gabe. He was one of the only people that didn’t pay attention to the scene that just happened.  A few tears had started running down my face.

“Are you alright?” he asked me. He sounded genuinely concerned.

“Ya, I’ll be fine.”

“Oh ok.” He said. “So what’s our next class? I knew that he just wanted to get off of the focus of the scene I had just made.

Lunch

Gabe wanted to sit by himself. I told him no, but he insisted. I couldn’t sit with Allie, considering the fact that she had betrayed me. So Gabe and I got our lunches and then sat down at different tables. I had just started my lunch when I noticed a group of jocks go sit down next to Gabe.

“So emo kid, have you tried to kill yourself lately?” one of them said. The rest erupted into fits of laughter. I packed up my lunch and got up. I stormed over to the table where they were all at.

“Ok, get up and leave Gabe alone,” I told them. I knew that they would listen to me, considering the fact that some of then had crushes on me.

“Aw, gonna sit with your little emo boyfriend?” Jason said. He was the biggest jock, and hated me since I had turned him down at least five times.

“One, he’s not my boyfriend, he’s my friend. Two, if you and your little jack ass friends don’t get out of here, I’m going to go get the dean. And we all know what happens if you get suspended one more time.”  I knew that the last comment had stuck to him. If got suspended one more time, he couldn’t play the rest of the basketball season.

“You win,” he finally said. He glared at me the whole way back to his table.

Gabe finally said something. “Thanks for sticking up for me.”

“Your welcome.”
