“Ok,” started Eliza, “I may not know much, but what I do know is that we have to get out of here.”

Luca sat in the corner with a condescending smirk on his face, staring at the both of us. I couldn’t resist.

“What?” I asked, curious of what was buzzing through his head.

“Oh nothing,” he coolly replied. “Just watching you two plan your hopeless escape.”

“Hopeless?”

“Yes. You see, you know of nothing that goes on here. It’s like trying to get out of a maze with a blindfold on. What you need is help.”

“Well, are you willing to provide that help?”

“Oh, hold on a second. I already offered you help. And I seem to recall your not so nice reply.” At this point he calmly crossed his legs.

“Whatever. We will get out of here, with or without your help.” There. I set him straight.

“Right, well, have fun with that.” At that, he turned back to his studying, leaving Eliza and me to finish discussing our plans.

Eliza turned to me, changing the subject, “You don’t know how happy I am to see you.” Her voice was soft and still meek as ever. “It’s horrible what they do here. I wasn’t the only one, you know, but my fate was sealed from the beginning,” she spoke the last part in a whisper so soft I had to strain to hear it.

“Your fate was sealed… from the… what?” I was so clueless about this. Maybe Luca was right. Maybe…. No, Luca is just being a pain in the butt…. But, that’s only because I gave him a pain in his-

“I can’t explain now, but you will know soon enough,” Eliza said interrupting my debate with myself.

“You know, you two are starting to sound a lot alike. Soon enough isn’t good enough for me! And what in the name of Hell are you ‘studying’ over there!?” I exclaimed angrily.

Luca looked up and suddenly closed the book he was so intently enveloped in just moments before. “Uh, nothing, it doesn’t matter. I have to go.” And with that, he simply vanished. Literally, right in front of my eyes poof! He was gone. And all that was left in his place was light, lingering smoke.

“What is this!?” A painfully familiar voice screeched. Oh no. I think I got my wish!
