Who Wants A bastard?

Who Wants A bastard?

Creative Created on 2-21-07 Views(152) Story Rating G

On June 14 1988, in the early morning a little baby girl was born by the name of Anay Cassandra Adorno in a New York Manhattan hospital. With a new baby in a parents life suppose to bring great joy, especially if it was planned, but not this day, it was a lot of confusion about this baby, but it started way before she was even thought of.  Her mother Wendy Davis was not really thinking about kids, as a matter of fact, the first two were accidents. Growing up in NY was hard for Wendy, she had to deal with the fact that her mother didn’t have much money and she had 16 siblings. But that didn’t stop her, when her father died early on in her child hood she started to do her own thing. Her favorites was drinking and smoking in the local parks with her high school friend Natalie. She was known for her tomboy ways and who every got in her way got cursed out or hit. But she did have a pretty face and body and I guess to the guys around her way, thought they can change her by dating her. She known for a fact that guys wanted her, and she used what she got to get what she wanted. A small time weed man by the name of Kevin “heavy” Davis was  definitely had his eye for her, but he just couldn’t settle, having different female run in and out of his apartment was his thing. Wendy, knowing he liked her couldn’t resist swinging by to grab a couple of bags for free. Like she cared who he was with, she was getting free weed. When Wendy was a junior in high school she met and fell madly in love with a big time drug dealer by the name of Jeff. He brought her anything she wanted from booze, to weed, to even the newest addidas  that came out. She had his heart and so did he. The only problem was that he was in his mid twenties, that showed concern for a lot Wendy’s family members but no one could tell her nothing, she would still sneak out to go see him at the park were talent would break dance to beat boxes. During a mid day, Wendy was in her senior year at Dodge high school a ill fate was about to happen. Jeff close friend set him up with a meeting to start trafficking illegal drugs across the states with a drug dealer from New Jersey. But all wasn’t planned, when Jeff got into the car the front seat passenger turned around and shot Jeff three times in the chest killing him instantly. His friend that set him up thought he was getting the money for the set up was shot once in the head and was also killed. The bodies was dumped out the car right there. The killers were never found. Word of mouth was that, Jeff was a big threat, to other drug dealers and had to be eliminated. The cops supposedly, searched for the killers, with all the witnesses, possible license plates and description, why wasn’t the killers found? The police didn’t care, they wasn’t trying to catch Jeff for the longest, it was one less drug dealer they had to worry about, they wanted him off the streets as much as any other person. As for Wendy, there was nothing for her to do about his death, but move on, she found comfort in her friends and those who wanted to take Jeff’s place. She wanted to get away so she left for college, but she kept in contact with the locals from her block. Her friend Ashley, set her up with a familiar name of Heavy, with the death of Jeff and his drug establishment, small time losers became big timers, but still losers. During Wendy’s second year of college she had to drop out because she unexpectedly got pregnant. Around the last few months , Heavy was locked up in jail for selling to an undercover agent and was sentenced to 4 to 9 years. Wendy with no job and no way of paying the bills went to go move back in with her mother Mary Thomas. Her mother at the time was an alcoholic, and usually with up in flames by anything that spotted her eye. Things continued to get hard, her mother didn’t like her choice of being with Heavy because she knew he was low life, and she knew what his occupation was. At this point Wendy felt like she had no choice of being with him, but she still visit him a few times. June 27 1986, Wendy gave birth to a petite baby boy, at his fathers wishes she named him Kevin jr. she took her son up to visit him every two weeks, the more the visit the more Heavy talked about becoming Muslim and having her and her son convert also. Wendy paid no mine to it. One weekend Heavy told Wendy to come up to the prison in a skirt to convert, Wendy being her self came in jeans. Angered by this Heavy reached across the table and hit her as hard as he could in the face. When Mary saw her daughters face when she came home was disgusted with her and told her she needed to make moves fast because she was about to be homeless. Wendy went from job to no job to looking to another piece of shit job. On her way to her mothers she met a man standing outside the building and of course attracted to the fine threads he wore she stopped to chat. At this time Kevin was about two yrs old. And before she knew it she was moving in with Paul at his new jersey home. It not the fact that she seriously wanted to be with Paul it was the fact that her mother just up and kicked her out the house. She took all of Wendy’s clothes and her sons clothes and put them outside the door during one of her drunkard phases.  Wendy went to a shelter, but sum one stole her baby formula while she was in the bathroom she packed up and left, for the rest of that day she slept in a train station with her son. But it wasn’t only her mother, it was also her older sister Sandra that encouraged the put out. Her older sister called one evening and asked for money like she would normally do, and when n she was refused she went up in flames, but her problem was that she just had anger issues. That morning she called up Paul and told him her situation. She wanted her family to seem like she had died, she didn’t want no contact with them what so ever. She didn’t even tell them were she was going. That same day, Mary down from her two day drink a thon high, called around to find her young daughter, but no one knew where she was at, where to find her, or what might of happened to her or for that matter where to start searching. No one really knew about her relationship with Paul, or where he lived and when he came to town for business, he acted as if he didn’t know her, wishes of Wendy though. Paul like the rest of Wendy men in the past was also a drug dealer, with nothing but money to offer. During her stay with him, there relationship was nothing but ups and downs. Apparently Paul couldn’t contain himself, and was a constant cheater. But wendy had plans her self, she was going to save up and move away from Paul, her and her son. But all didn’t go as planned when wendy found out she was pregnant again, she didn’t know how this could of happened she wasn’t ready for another child. At that point she finally decided to get back in contact with her family. The first person she spoke to was her older sister Lucy, Lucy convinced wendy to call her mother to see how she was. She told her that their mother lives in regret everyday since the day she left. After a few days wendy called her mother. At the sound of her daughters voice, Mary cried hysterically, she asked her if it was possible for her to stop by and visit her mother. Wendy, wasn’t as thrilled to hear from her, she just really wanted an apology. A few days later, wendy had found out that Paul had cheated again, not by catching him but by going to the doctor and finding out she had a STD. Hurt by this she took her son with her and made a surprise to her mothers house. The doctor had told her that, if she wouldn’t have caught it, her daughter could been born with birth defects or blind for that matter. Wendy went to her mother for console, she told her that she was going to go get an abortion because she didn’t want any ties with Paul. At that time the appointment was set up, wendy made the reservations that same day she found out about her STD. Mary, had other ideas, she didn’t want her daughter to go through with it and tried her hardest to convince her not to do it. Wendy was determined not to let in. she told her mother that it made her skin crawl with the fact that she was pregnant with such a dirty man child. And  she couldn’t live if he child came out with birth defects. Her mother told her that it didn’t matter how the child was conceived, but it was her responsibility to take care of it. And maybe that child had a reason for being on this earth and she knew for a fact that its reason wasn’t for it to die. If she didn’t want it, give it up for adoption, if she wants to keep it she would help her take care of it. Wendy gave in to not getting the abortion but she did decided to put it up for adoption. Everyday other day or when she could wendy would go to visit her mother, and every time she would go her mother would try to convince her to move back in with her, she knew Wendy was unhappy and she said she just wanted to make things right and start all over. Her drinking had come to a minimum and she was on her way to a path of god. But still Wendy refused because she didn’t want to be in the same situation that she was in a few months ago. June 14, was when she gave birth to a baby girl. Her father Paul like he said he was, was at the hospital. When wendy saw her daughter their was no way she was going to let her out of her sight. Her father named her Anay which means unique, different and wonderful, her middle name Cassandra came from her aunt Sandra that swore everything was okay between them two and wanted to be the godmother. After the birth, things were going good… for a while. Paul got locked up this time but only for a year when Anay was two years old. The owner of the house was a old dirty man named Howard, he let wendy stay there with her two kids rent free. Anay’s grandfather visited her regularly to give her money and to see his grand daughter. The old man that lived there did as much as he could to see wendy. He lived upstairs from her and would often look out his window to see her come in and out of the two story house. When he did get the chance to actually talk to her he would make signs that he was into her, but Wendy ignored him and his signs. Although she knew staying there would be a problem, she still stubbornly refused to go back to her mothers and she didn’t dare tell Anay’s grandfather the way the man was acting. Wendy then landed a job a brownstone studios in Manhattan, she would drop the kids off at her sisters house and head to work. Her sister would take Kevin to daycare when it was time. And of course she wanted money for her gracious deeds.  By that time Heavy had got out of prison and was another person trying to get her, but she remembered how he acted that day he got upset with her and tried to avoid him as much as possible. After work she would head over to her mothers house and stay for an hour. She did it because she wanted much time as she could away from home. Mary was in love with Anay. She was the only one allowed on the bed, wendy believed it was because of Anay’s skin color. At times when she stayed to late at her mothers house she would take a cab back to Trenton new jersey. After all she could afford it, with her good job and grandpa stopping by to give her money she was set. If he couldn’t stop by and give it to her he would send it to her western union, he wasn’t the type of man to stay in one place, he loved going back to him hometown in Puerto rico, visiting his sisters and brothers that decided never to leave they roots. A couple of times he tried to get wendy to move down there, but since she didn’t he often made the trip back to his new jersey home. At times when he would visit he would teach little Anay Spanish, hoping that she could catch a better side of her roots. He often said to wendy when she gets old enough he was going to take her to Puerto rico. A while after that Anay’s grandfather youngest sister died in Puerto rico, he made that final decision to move down there to help out, but promised to take care of wendy by sending her money. With grandpa out the way Howard made his move, his advances got stronger and he threw it up in her face that her being there was soon going to cost her. With that being said wendy packed up her clothes and her kids and moved back in with her mother. Mary was happy to get wendy back with her… at first. When she met a man named Hines things got harder. He would come over and Mary wouldn’t want the children around. Not that she didn’t love them its just that to her they was messing up her flow. After a few heated arguments with her mother wendy was throw out again. She then moved in with her sister Sandra who would watch her kids while she went to work. Sandra re introduced Heavy to wendy. She made up a story saying that he was a changed man and wanted to be apart of their child life. Although wendy at the time didn’t want to be back with Heavy she reluctantly gave into him and let him make regular visits to see his son. Heavy was happy for his son but held resentment for a another mans daughter, Anay. At this time, Paul was out of jail, his attempt to visit his daughter didn’t happen, the last wendy heard from him was that he was living in lower Manhattan somewhere with another one of his baby mothers.  After a while of living with her sister, wendy was able to move out and get her own apartment on grant avenue, which wasn’t far from where Heavy lived, clay avenue. The tension between Sandra and wendy grew, once she was able to move out, she had a heated discussion with Sandra. Apparently the clothes she would buy Kevin, Sandra would steal it and give it to her own son named bobby, who was two years older than Kevin not to mention. Wendy only put up with it because she knew she was going to move out and only needed a little more time. At times she would come home and see that Kevin had on dirty clothes while bobby ran around the house with too small underwear. As soon as wendy moved out she cut ties with Sandra and it would be years before they speak again. By this time wendy made another connection with her mother to try to work things out and get right again. Hines, the Jamaican man was still with her mother, and his love for little Anay grew also. He would buy her all types of toys, if he saw it and it was pink he would buy it, he called Anay the little chocolate from Puerto Rico. Kevin’s father, at the time, seemed like the perfect man he would treat both of her kids like they were his own. At times when he came for a visit he would bring her flowers and take her out to dinner. Soon after he moved in and all seemed perfect. After a year of him being there he often got angry for no reason, but he would just leave and go take walks. One afternoon when little Kevin was in kindergarten, his father was helping him with his homework, little Kevin was having problems with writing his name. Impatiently Heavy got mad at the fact that his son couldn’t trace the dotted lines on the paper perfectly, and before you knew it little Kevin was laying on the floor screaming because his father punched him in the eye. Because Kevin was so small, the whole left side of his face was completely messed up. Wendy again, snatched up her kids and left for her mothers house, but didn’t stay long before you knew it she was back with Heavy. He told her that he took angel dust and other drugs and was trying to get clean, that he needed help and couldn’t do it on his own and of course, that it would never happen again. He said he wanted to start over and living where they did wasn’t going to help. They then moved into a newly built apartment complex on southern blvd. (Its not sure why exactly did wendy go back to Heavy, I guess she thought she could change him but obviously not). Both of them had jobs, wendy worked through the afternoons, and Kevin’s job was to transport illegal guns and money across the states, and would be gone for days. Supposedly he was off of drugs. He seemed alright when he was home and didn’t raise his voice higher than a whisper. He spoiled anay like it was no tomorrow and called her names like daddy’s little girl and the sweetest licorice gumdrop. His son was called little kevy kev and my main man and all seemed well. Wendy’s older brother Herman would come and watch the kids while they worked, he didn’t asked for much, he stayed around for a while in plus he was good company for wendy. When Kevin found out Herman was giving their canned goods away to the bums that lived in the lot, he threw Herman out and convinced wendy she should be an at home mom while he get a job in NY, he started working a driver for the B.O.E. Wendy giving in quit her job a brown stone studios and decided to do so. She applied for welfare and claimed that it was only her and her kids living where she was, it was easy to say that because she was not married to kevin. The food stamps went to the house and the cash she would get on her card went straight to Kevin pocket. Being that she stayed home all the time Kevin was free to do as he pleased. He then convinced wendy to have another baby by him. While wendy was pregnant Kevin often hit the streets, gambling and parting and soon enough he was back on drugs. (but I’m pretty sure he never got off of them) When he didn’t have no money to spend or get drugs he took it out on the family. He became controlling and soon enough his fear caused wendy not being able to run anywhere. When she was allowed to leave the house he went with her. Her image was that she had the perfect family. The more drugs he did the worse the abuse became. One day when anay stayed home from school, she witnessed the horror of her mothers pain. Kevin came home early from work, it seemed as if he already had his high and was in demand for sex. He told wendy to go into the bedroom, when she refused she pushed her down to the floor and repeated himself but in a harder voice. Wendy, being that she was around 7 months couldn’t help herself off the floor, and she being crying shaking her head. He turned around to anay who was sitting on the couch, who suppose to been watching cartoons, told her to go to her room to clean it. Which was impossible, anay was only 6 years old, and she never cleaned her room, her mother did. Anay sat there unable to move, just staring at her mother laying on the floor crying. Her mom shook her head and told anay it was alright, by that time it was too late, Kevin’s big hand was already going across her face with a hard slap. He told her again, and said he’ll find something for her to do. He told her to go in the room because he needed to talk to her mother also. Anay went in her room and sat on the bed shaking, a minute later Kevin came in the room with a phone book and started ripping it up, and threw all the pieces on the floor. He gave her a bag and told her to clean. Through the walls she could hear her mother screaming, and then it stopped and the music was put on loud, what he usually did when he beat the kids he would put the music on loud. Anay could still hear the screams but in a muffled way. She never really knew what happened that day to her mother, she didn’t ask and she didn’t tell nor did she tell her beloved brother. Later that night for dinner it was stew with onions, anay never liked the look of onions so she wasn’t forced to eat them, just like little Kevin never liked turkey or spinach, he was never forced. But this night was different Kevin was pissed at her for back talking him, he didn’t give her ant meat in her stew just onions and vegetables. While she was sitting at the table, he was preparing her food, while saying to her, I know how u like onions you little bastard so I made this jus for you. Anay wished her mom could come rescue her, but according to Kevin she had a headache and couldn’t move out of bed. Anay didn’t touch any of her food, her older brother was across the table encouraging her to eat so she wont get beat but anay being stubborn refused to move her hand from her side. Little Kevin reached across the table and tried to dump as much as he could of her stew into his bowl, and he told her to eat the rest, when Kevin walked into the kitchen he saw that little Kevin had more food. He told him to go eat and the living room and then he put more food into anays bowl and sat in the seat across from her and said he was going to watch her eat every last bite. Still anay sat there not bothering to pick her hand up to eat. Kevin leaned across the table and began whispering to her. You know I’m not your real daddy, look around everyone is lighter than you, your black and ugly, stupid who would want you as a daughter? If your mom really loved you she would come save you, but where is she you little bitch, where is your father, he told me, I don’t want that ugly piece of shit for a daughter give her to the poor, but instead I took your ass in, and this is the thanks I get? You don’t want to eat my cooking, telling me what you want and don’t want are you stupid now eat the fucking food before I kill you and bury your ass across the street where no one would fine you because no one loves you and no one would care. These conversations would continue through out anays child hood, getting worse each rime. Anay crying, picked up the spoon and put an onion in her mouth, the slipperiness in her mouth cause her to gag and spit it out. Kevin grabbed her neck and told her he would break it if another thing came flying out her mouth, she did it again. Before while she was trying to take another spoonful she couldn’t swallow or breath, she thought it was because she was scared. Two days later anay woke up in the hospital, her mom was standing over her, she told her that she had a allergic reaction, and they thought they lost her. The next day, Kevin woke her up, all he said to her was if anybody ask you shit you better say I don’t know or nothing got it little shit face or ill kill you, the doctor came in the room a few minutes later and asked her what sis she remember from the other night, they wanted to know how did she get those bruises on her face. Kevin had said it was from her fall when she passed out but it was really from that slap she received earlier that day. Kevin was standing right behind the doctor giving cold stares, when anay looked at him the doctor turned around and looked at him too, then turned back to anay. I don’t remember anything mister, was her answer. The doctor leaned up and went to wendy and asked her can he talk to her and that was the last of him. April 17 1995 Brandi was born, a chubby little girl, the splitting image of Kevin. With a new baby in the house you would think that things got better but they only got worse. On june20th a few days after anays 7th birthday wendy and Kevin married. He claimed he had warrant and had to get another social so they can get married. It was true he did have warrants but what did that have to do with having a city hall wedding? It was much more than that. One day a hot august day, Kevin took the kids outside little Kevin and anay. (I’m not sure where mommy was at) Kevin and anay was playing tag while Kevin sat on a bench watching them.  Anay had to pee really bad but was too scared to ask to go to the bathroom. While they was running around anay kept having to take breaks because she was about to pee on herself. The last time she sat down was by Kevin, but this time she couldn’t hold it and pissed on herself.  When Kevin saw the leaking on the bench he told her to get up, she lied and said it was rain water. Obviously that was impossible to happen because it was august. Kevin took them in the building. As soon as they got in he pushed anay into the mailboxes and said to her how could she embarrass him in front of the neighbors, even though there was no one outside but them.  He told little Kevin and anay to run upstairs before he get up there. When he go upstairs he told  Kevin to go in the room so his sister can take a bath. While anay was in the tub soaking, Kevin came in anay was already crying because she knew she was going to get a beating, he asked her why she was crying when he didn’t even hit her yet. She responded with daddy I’m sorry, in an instant he punched her in the arm and her head hit the soap dish. She wasn’t allowed to call him dad, because like he said she was a bastard that no one loved.  Look at these dirty knees wash them he told her. Anay picked up her rag and started washing them. You not doing it right he told her, he reached in the cabinet under the sink and pulled out a brillo pad and scrubbed one of anays knees until the skin removed. Anay was screaming with pain trying to get away, to shut her up he grabbed her by the hair and pushed her down under the water, and told her to shut the fuck up. He said to her that he was trying to say sorry because he didn’t realize how black she was that she looked like a big dirt mark. Then he laughed, he told her to stand up so he can wash her up. Unlike her mom, he washed her without a rag, he said he didn’t want to get his hands dirty, but he had no problem putting his bare hands on her, which he did often. It never did seem right when he washed her up, how heavy his breathing got, or the fact that he would always wash in the same spot more than once, between her legs. She never said anything about it neither to her mom. In a way she knew it was wrong because he mom never washed her that way, and when she would be in the tub playing with her dolls her mom would sit in there with her ans ask her questions. Have anyone ever touched you down there. She would ask, nope was anays response. And if someone did you would tell me right? She’ll say, and yes would be anay answer. It was one time when her mother was washing her up and she asked that question again, in response anay asked what about when you wash me up and you touch me down there does that count? Wendy stopped for a moment and said no because she was only try to clean her. So was that the same as what Kevin was doing? One Saturday when wendy went to her mothers house to do her bills like she normally did, they was left at the house with Kevin. It seemed normal, Kevin usually didn’t come outside his bedroom, he would be in there with baby Brandi. But this Saturday hi came out the room. Are you eyeballing me he said to little Kevin, no was little Kevin’s response. Kevin walked over to him and stood him up and got in his face. You want to punch me huh? Little Kevin didn’t respond and with that big Kevin mashed him to the ground. He told both the kids to go in the room and that they lost they cartoon privileges for today. A few minutes later he came into anay room, he told her that she was first and to take off her clothes and to go up front. that’s what is usually said when we get a beating, but the music would be on. It was never jus one parent though, wendy would be there most of the time. But this time no music was on. Kevin closed the door, anay hyperventilating about what was going to happen went up front, Kevin was sitting on the couch wit his underwear on, there was no belt in sight but anay was too scared to notice. His voice was calm when he said to her that he wasn’t going to beat her. He said to her that he wanted to be friends and that he wasn’t going to mistreat her anymore and the best part was he was going to be a real dad to her, but in order for this to happen she had to keep his secret. Anay agreed anything was better than getting tortured everyday with beating and I hate you. He stood up in front of her. His six foot 280 pound frame over powered her, she was frail, barely ate, aynd was short for her age. At that point it would be a changing event in anays life, Kevin took off his underwear, anay backed up and Kevin grabbed her arm and told her to remember they deal they had. He then told her to lay gown because everything was going to be alright.

Although we all have our nightmares we must all overcome them and and it seems like you accepted them and you decided to show others just how terrifying life can really get. I have heard many stories about peoples lives but never one quite so touching. People always lack to vividly tell a story like this because its too hard for them or they just don't know how. The best thing one can do in a situation like this is to show your not like the rest. To prove to yourself and others that you don't have to take shit from anyone or anything in life. That if you want to live a life in peace you can pursue it. You just have to find the door. once there its your choice weather you want to go through it or not. Although there are many doors throughout our life, we have to know which one is the right one for us. I have seen many people come and go. I have seen lives taken. I grew to know that life is a test of our character. A test of our soul. A test to see weather we can handle all this punishment and still have faith. Never dance with the devil for it may be your last.
