Chapter 2

He was young, but rough and strong. Only about 18 by the looks of it, and obviously drunk. He flashes an easily identified as fake I.D. He asked me in a slurred voice where the beers were. His breath was awful and had the strong scent of fresh drinking. I coughed a little, and told him that you have to be over 21 and if not we will get in trouble. I make a gesture only him and I could catch revealing there were cameras around, for my own safety. He looks briefly in the direction catches on and makes his glance look casual. He flashes his fake I.D, again and repeats his question a little louder. I frown and point him to it. Another co-worker a little older than me, but probably the same age as this guy comes over and stand in front of me in a protective way. This is what I get for working in a convenience store.

The guy walks over to the beer but my co-worker, his name is Andrew, stays in front of me. The guy goes to the counter and attempts to buy the foul drink. He is refused, he looks over the large and muscular man behind the counter who looks like a bullet couldn't break through his skin. The guy walks away and I make the mistake of sighing. He quickly flips his head around and smiles at me. I take a step back and Andrew covers me. Being the only girl who works here the guys tend to be a little protective. But I guess I can't blame them being in this neighborhood.

The guys sways over to me unsteadily and cranes his neck a little looking around Andrew ignoring him. “Welllll, no beeer for me, then how aaboutalady?” he slurs out directed at me and Andrew. I spit at the floor where he stands. He scowls screwing up his face into disgust and walks out of the store, shaking his brown hair. I won't forget his eyes, no softness in them, deep brown with possibly hurt but no compassion there at all. I sigh again wondering if it weren't for me having to step up for Sabrina if I would have turned out like that.

“Uh, thanks Andrew.” he looks over at me then at the swinging shut door then over at me again. He walks away saying “don't mention it.” I got back to work and watched the clock waiting for the next 4 hours to pass bye as quickly as possible, and wishing for no other unpleasant customers. At the end of my shift it was 10 a.m. I headed to my next job which was at a department store another block up. On my way there I felt like I was being followed, I glanced back casually and saw a shadow. My hair stood up on my arms. Is it them, has that gang found me? My heart beat faster with fear. I wasn't sure what to do, run, hide, face them? Who knew? I didn't really care as long as they were not after Sabrina. I took slow trudging steps as if I hadn't noticed being followed. When I heard the steps get faster behind me I matched it and tried to get ahead.

Too late..I thought as I was jumped. Everything went black as I hit the ground. When I woke up I saw my captor and I was tied but luckily unharmed as well as untouched. Or I hoped it was lucky I was still alive, I could regret it later. No it was lucky, as long as I can take care of Sabrina if I get out of here then it was lucky. I looked up at them and demanded the time. They shrugged and shouted back over to me that it was only 10:30. I thought about my job, it starts at 10:30. Hopefully if I get out of here they won't fire me. I know thats a funny thought at a time like this but I could tell this gang was not run by any one hire up. So they weren't after me specifically and when there leader is done with me (whatever that may be) they may just let me go.

“Boss!” one of the four people in the shadows shouted to a back area.

“What!” he yelled back. I know that voice I thought. Who is it?

“She's awake.” the second of the shadow hidden men said.

“Leave” he demanded coming out from the back.

I got a shiver down my spine like earlier and it hit me. “Your the guy from the convenience store earlier today!” I shouted at him. He smiled over at me coming closer.

“Yes I am, and your the girl who worked there.” he replied.

“Except this time your sober!” I told him.

“And this time your mine!” he retorted, seeming a bit angry his hostage is arguing and not cowering in fear.
“What do you want with me?” I asked.

“I want you.” he stated closing in closer.

I spat at his feet again and he slapped me. “Hmp, I liked you better when you weren't sober!” I complained.

“You shut up now!” he glared, and then looked down at his hand. It was almost like he didn't like hitting me. But I could be wrong because he quickly recovered and smiled at me. “Speak when your spoken to only.” he said seeming calmer.

“Fine.” I agreed to appease him. “Do what you want with me just hurry up” I said summiting.

“Why are you so cooperative now?” he asked curious.

“Will you let me go when your through with me?” I asked him.

“Answer my question!”

“You answer mine!” I demanded back. He thought about this. Most likely wondering if he should answer allowing me control for a second or maintaining his position and demanding I only answer him. Seems curiosity took over because he answered me.

“Yes I will let you go when I'm done. But that doesn't mean I won't be back.” he seemed happy with this answer and waited for my reply.

“Today? Will you let me go by 5?”

“Why?”

“Will you?” I asked firmer. He looked at me sternly, then asked his question again. Seems like hes not going to answer first this time.

“I have to..um..well” I was unsure if it was safe to tell him. He lifted my up into his arms and took me to the back. The guys from before just walked in after we left and I guess he heard them coming.

“Now tell me.” he demanded setting me in the corner of the small room.

“I have to pick up my sister, I'm all she has left.” I told him the truth. He looked at me startled.
