Never Ending

Chapter one: I could but………..

Another boring day out on the never-ending sea. Only the sea birds in the vast, light blue, sky. Then there is the occasional dolphin jumping by. The big ship rocked back and forth, constantly making me sick to my stomach. We hope to see land soon, with in the next day or two. I hate how all the days seem smooshed together, and I can't tell them apart. They all seem the same. I believe we left land a week ago, but I'm not completely sure.

As the sunsets of this same-as-yesterday kind of day I hear the whistle cry. It's time for dinner. Today is sloppy joes, because yesterday we had spaghetti. Dinner is the only thing that keeps the days interesting even if it is predictable. I place my book on the table, and head for the mess hall.

I've been at sea for a while, so I've gotten pretty good at walking on the rocking ship. I really can't wait to get off this boat. My thoughts break as I hear:

"Hey Jack, wait up!" It was Sally, one of my friends on the ship. We met one afternoon on the deck, when I found her reading the same book as I. She does a quick jog, to catch up with me.

"Hello Sally, fancy meeting you here, at this hour. Would you like to join me for dinner? I believe we are having sloppy joes." I say to be silly. I am not usually so well mannered, but it's fun to pretend.

"Well, thank you Jack, I would be honored to join you for dinner. Sloppy joes, what a fine delicacy" Sally plays along. It's great to have a friend with a similar sense of humor as you. No need to explain your jokes, like I did back home. Nope I'm headed for a new start, and Sally has made it a good one.

We enter the doorway into the large mess hall. The sound of laughter, and gossip fill the air. Because of the meal choice, there is no need for the use of forks and spoons, so the noise of scraping silverware is absent.

Sally and I grab a plate at the start of the buffet. The line moves slowly, but we eventually get our food. We set out in search of a seat in the rows of the long, wooden, benches and tables

"Oh look, I see one next to Luke and Marcy,” announces Sally. We head in their direction, and take our places across from each other.  "Hey Marcy! Hi Luke!" Greets Sally in her normal for perky voice.

"Hi Sally. Hi Jack." They both say in unison. It's some weird twin telepathy thing, where they say the same thing at the same exact time. They are fraternal twins so it’s kinda easy to tell them apart, cuz well one’s a girl, the other a boy. They both have brown hair, green eyes, and pale skin. Marcy and Luke are the first people I met on the ship, they are friendly, and very talkative.

Sally tucks her golden ringlets behind her ears before she takes her first bite of the messy burger in front of her. She always reminded me of Goldie Locks, She was blonde, blue eyed, and a little too curious for her own good.

I take a bite of my sloppy joe, and half of the filling leaks out. Maybe we should have forks, so we could eat what has fallen out of the bun. Surprisingly Luke, Marcy, and Sally were all quiet eating their food, and it gave me time to think.

I always felt like the odd man out. Well maybe it was cuz I was always quiet, and kept to my self back home, but I wasn’t like anybody tried to be my friend either. I always wondered why. I just felt so plain Brown hair, Brown eyes, and a slightly tanned skin tone. Now all of a sudden I don’t feel like that anymore. I feel, like I have just myself… the true me. And we have a lot of catching up to do. Sally interrupted my thoughts.

“Jack, are you ok?” She whispers. “We have been kind of worried about you the last day or two. You know you can tell us what’s going on.” Yah I know I could doesn’t mean I should, and it certainly doesn’t mean I would.

“Oh, nothing’s going on, I’m just tired, and well mostly bored. I just can’t wait, to get off this retched boat. Why?” I ask in confusion. “Why do you guys care so much?” I ask and after I realize I sounded pathetic.

“Why?” She scoffed, clearly surprised, and completely hurt. “Because, I though we were, friends, best friends, and we could tell each other     anything.”  She had a harder time hiding the tears, as she continued. “Well I guess I was wrong. Excuse me” with that she picked up her tray, and left.

All I could do was look at the floor in shame, and disgust. I finally had a friend, a best friend even, and now she’s gone.

Tell me what you think. If enough poeple like It I'll keep going

Don't get confused cuz I'll pobally change the cover every time according to what happens to the chapter =]
