The Thrilling Life of Raisin
|
He began exploring his cage and found many cool things. He didn’t even know where to start. First, he found a little spinney thing which he started running in. Next, he found a tube-like thing that he could climb through. It lead him to a little, clear tower which he could see everything through. He even saw a big, fluffy thing curled up; it kind of looked like a giant version of him. Then, he found a little, square block. He licked it and it tasted like a carrot. “Mmmmm,” he thought. Finally, he found another tube which lead to another cage! “Jeez! I must be in heaven!”
Suddenly, a hand reached in and picked him up. He sat perfectly still while he was being pet. He figured out that his name was Raisin. Finally, he was set down in a little ball. Then he started running and the ball began rolling. Then suddenly, he began rapidly bouncing and falling and didn’t know what was going on. “I’m having dejavu!” he thought. It seemed to him that he was falling down stairs. Raisin thought that he was dead…again, and he could hardly move without a gut-wrenching pain shouting up his spine. He was taken out of his ball and was held for a little while. Then, the person put him back in his cage. All he wanted to do was make a comfy nest out of his fluffy, brown shavings, and sleep.
All Raisin did for the next few days was curl up in his little nest. Somebody would hold him every now and then. He could barely go up his tube, it hurt so much. He finally started feeling better and could run in his wheel and go up his tube.
The next night when everybody was asleep, Raisin got bored with his cage, so he started chewing on crack in his wall. Soon the crack was a hole big enough for him to squeeze through. He was finally able to escape. He saw the big fluffy thing, and it saw him and began growling. At that point, he knew it was a dog. He scurried into a hole in the wall. He thought it was a lot like a gigantic maze and had no idea where he was. Raisin found himself climbing up a wall. He started running really fast, but all of a sudden, he fell. It seemed like a never ending fall, but he finally collapsed on the ground. Once his pain had finally left from falling down the stairs in his ball, it came right back again, but this time it was much worse. He lay there for a really long time, until suddenly, he heard a loud noise and saw something jut into the wall! He tried to avoid it, but it was too fast and he was in too much pain. Thankfully, it just barely missed him. A hand reached through the hole and picked him up. He had never been so glad to see that hand in his life and knew that he was finally rescued.
Once again, Raisin lay around in his cage for a few days. He thought he was having dejavu again. He started feeling better and heard his cage door open. He went to see what was going on, and another hamster popped in. “Wow,” Raisin thought to himself, “Isn’t she glamorous!” They approached each other with caution and started sniffing one another. It was definitely love at first sight. Their love grew each and everyday they spent with each other, and they eventually had babies. Raisin now had the best life he could possibly have and never dared to escape from his cage ever again.
