Run Run as fast as you can

Captain Smith ran up The Grand Staircase and onto the First Class Promenade. He was old, and fat, and slow so he couldn’t run very fast. But the people who saw him were blown away as he hurried past them. He might have been old but he could jog. He jumped into the Captains Quarters and quickly asked Jack Phillips what had happened.

“We got our first iceberg warning ,Sir” said Phillips.

“Who received it?” asked the Captain.

“Bride did ,Sir”

The Captain pushed Phillips to the ground and walked quickly over to Bride.

“What did it say, who was it from and how long ago was it”.

“It was from the Californian. Sir” said Bride with a quiver in his voice. Smith could sense the fear behind his eyes. “ It said icebergs ahead. It was only a few moments ago and then our machine broke”.

“Fix it as soon as possible”

He walked out of the room slowly. He went to find 2^nd Officer Lighttoller and 1^st Officer Murdoch. He thought that Henry had already been told of an iceberg. When he found Murdoch he asked him where Lighttoller was.

“I have no idea” he said.

They walked into the 1^st class lounge and saw 6^th Officer Moody talking to Lighttoller. Captain Smith didn’t want to include the inexperienced Moody into this but decided he will.

He walked up to them and told them of what had happened.

“Well what are you boys going to do, because I doubt you need my help” said Moody

“That is not true” said Smith “You might not be experienced but you are one of the smartest Officers I have never met, and that counts for something”.

Cole and Benny walked by and Murdoch jumped onto Cole before anyone could stop him.

They feel down the Grand Staircase heads first.
