Tragedy

Creative Created on 5-3-08 Views(35) Story Rating G

I’ve always wanted to be superman, ever since I was a little kid.  My parents had bought me a superman cape.  I wore it with pride.  I loved the feel of the wind pushing the cape out behind me, making it trail in the wind.

I wanted to look cool on my very first day of school so I wore it.  I got laughed at.  I ran to the bathroom crying. I ripped it off of me, successfully tearing the seams.  I put the now ruined cape into my backpack.

The rest of my school career I was called Super Dweeb.

My parents tried to comfort me but to no avail.  I had no friends and no one stuck up for me.  I traveled through school in a haze, just doing my school work. I didn’t even succeeding academically; I always managed to stay afloat enough to keep with the same students.

Sheena, a new girl, popular girl, stuck up for me in front of the jocks.  When I left, Sheena followed me.  She told me that they were just jerks and what they said was nothing to take seriously.  I told her that she was wrong, if she knew my story they would understand that what they said was true.  She didn’t care.

Ever day she sat with me at lunch, quickly loosing her popularity status.  Every time I was picked on she stuck for me.

One day, Sheena moved.  I felt alone.  I sat by myself at lunch.

Billy, the person who picked on me the most, tripped me when I took my tray back.  My leftover pizza, milk, ketchup, and fries stuck themselves to my shirt.

I stood up.  The entire cafeteria erupted in laughter.

Hurriedly, I returned my tray.  I left the cafeteria and burst into the bathroom.  I was alone.  I started to cry.

I grabbed a paper towel, soaked it in water.  I began to clean my shirt.

Why are people so mean? I don’t get it.  I didn’t do anything to them! Can’t they respect that I love to sing? That I’m in the choir? So what? There are plenty of guys in the choir. I don’t even have Sheena anymore.

After that it only got worse.  I was picked on more and more.  I can’t take it! I thought.

After I got home, I asked my mother if I could talk to her.

“Oh shush Steven. I’ve been home with a screaming baby all day! I don’t want to deal with your shit too!” she screamed.  The baby began crying.

“Look what you’ve done now you worthless kid! I had just gotten him to shut up!” mother said angrily, while storming away.

New tears sprang to my eyes as I walked away.  I went upstairs into my room.  Billy was waiting for me.  He had a noose in his hands.

“What are you doing?” I asked with fear in my voice.

“I’m going to get rid of you once and for all.  You never did anything good for this world, never.  You don’t deserve to live,” he jumped towards me.

With the noose tight around my neck I could not breathe.   I couldn’t stop him from dragging me to my closet, and hanging me from my clothing rod.

My spirit watched Billy leave through the window.  I also watched my mother find me in the morning.  The entire town thought I had committed suicide. They would never know the truth.
