Dust Storm

Creative Created on 5-3-08 Views(25) Story Rating G

“Honey! Come back inside now! You’re going to be burried! Hurry!” my wife screamed from the safety of our house.

“Just a second!” I was waiting for the perfect moment to snap this shot.

A dust storm had started up. Me with my photographer instincts, well I’m going to take the best picture the United States has ever seen.

I want to be famous; I want it so bad. Maybe part of that wish is so I can feed my lovely, beautiful wife.

Food has been hard to find during the depression. We lost a lot of our money during the stock market crash. We even lost all of our life savings.

I take my picture just as the dust storm hit the city wall. For a second, I started at the towering wall of dust in wonder. It is so big. Then I start to gather my equipment.

I had to make several trips inside. O sat the last of my supplies down and almost did not have time to shut, and lock, the small from door.

I hurried to the back of my house to huddle close to my wife. I saw streaks of dirt running down her face; she was scared for me.

“It’s okay. Shhh, I’m here now. Don’t worry it’s okay,” I tried to comfort her but I knew that she was crying over our lost fortune, the bad conditions of our life, and our lost children.

A dust storm had claimed the lives of our five year old twins two years ago. We were devastated. With all the dust lying around, we couldn’t even find there bodies.

I start to cry too as my wife and I sit close together. We miss our children so much. We sit close, never separated, for days. I didn’t leave her side until the cloud of dust had disappeared.
