Aaron's Sake ~Chapter 2~

On monday, minutes felt more like hours as I waited for Tyler and Aaron's shift to start at twelve. I had been at the cafe since 9, and all I had managed to do was set up three tables before my nerves got the best of me.

On time, as usual, Aaron walked into the cafe, and walked over to me,

"Hi!" He said.

I answered with a nearly silent, "Howdy."

"How was your weekend, hun?" he asked, with apparent curiosity on his face.

"Nothing out of the ordinary..." I said, hoping my answer didn't sound guilty or untrue.

"Again, I'm really sorry I couldn't hang out, my mom,'s a real bitch when it comes to family vacations." He apologized for the tenth time.

"Oh, it's okay! I actually hung out with Tyler a little." I said, hoping Aaron didn't notice my voice cracked when i said 'hung out'.

"Oh ya? You better not be cheatin' on me!" He said sarcastically.

The blood leaked from my face and I busied myself by filling the thermal cup dispenser.

"Oh, I wouldn't worry about that..." I said, trying to make my voice sound confident. At that point, Tyler walked in, about 15 minutes late, whistling, and acting like his normal self. But I could see in his eyes that he was just as nervous as me about today.

"Hey, Aaron." He said with an emotionless tone.

"Hi, dude! I heard you and Rose 'hung out' this weekend." Aaron said, trying to start up a conversation. At this point, I was eavesdropping from behind the corner next the girls' bathroom, and if i looked at the window, i could se their reflections.

"Look, man, I'm REALLY sorry!! It wasn't supposed to happen, it just did, and we-"

"Hey, hey! It's okay man, I know nothing happened ..." Aaron said, trying to stop Tyler's rambling.

"Ooooh.." Tyler instantly relaxed, the color returning to his face.

After things returned to "normal," I finished my shift at two and was glad that all of us could act normally around each other again. I left feeling confident that Aaron would never find out...
