Clueless (Chapter 2)

I pulled into the mall parking lot excited for my "date" with Caroline. To her it was just two good friends hanging out, but to me it was one on one time with my favorite person. I walked into the crowded food court and bought my ticket for the movie. I wasn't supposed to be ungrounded yet, so I had to promise my mom I would do the dishes for a week before she would let me come. After I had my ticket, I walked over to buy some MnMs and Skittles while I waited for Caroline to show up. My hopes of a "date" were quickly dicouraged when she came in the doors with Corey, her present boyfriend. She spotted me and walked over towing Corey behind her.I put on a smile so she wouldn't see my disappointment.

"Hi Tyler, I hope you don't mind that I brought Corey along...He showed up at my house and I told him what we were doing. I just couldn't turn him down when he asked if he could come..." I could see in her eyes that she was sorry, but I still remembered that I just traded a week of dishes for having an opertunity to be a 3rd wheel.

"Oh, thats fine, the more the merrier!" I said with fake enthusiasm.

After they bought their tickets, we went into the theator and found 3 seats together. As soon as we sat down I regretted sitting next to them because I realized they would probably be making out the entire movie.

I spent the whole 1 and a half hour movie trying to focus on the movie, sulking in my chair.

After the movie, Caroline said goodbye and she and Corey walked off to her car hand in hand. It made me so mad, not really at her(I could never be mad at her) but at myself for not telling her how I felt.

I drove home with a bunch of thoughts running through my head and went up to my room before my mom could ask how it was. I immediately turned on my CD player and listened to my favorite band: Rascal Flatts. I just layed there thinking for about an hour before I decided to get to bed so I could get up in time for church tomorrow.

I woke up the next morning, took a quick shower, and grabbed a bagel for the road. It took about 20 minutes to get to the church and when I got there, guess who I saw?? Corey.

He was out front and seemed to be waiting for someone.

I sat in my car tidying up some of my stuff for a couple more minutes when I saw who he was waiting for. A blonde with a cheep dye job came up to him and he kissed her passionately. I immediately thought of how this would crush Caroline. I then got out of my car and silently walked past them into the church. Corey saw me and glared at me. After the sermon, I went out to my car and heard someone call my name. I turned around to see Corey running towards me. Once he was at my car he asked me:

"About how much did you see before church?"

"Not much, just enough to see that you were cheating on my best friend..." I answered with little emotion in my voice.

Before I could react, he pinned me up against my car and warned me:

"You tell Caroline anything about that, and I'll break your neck!"

After he released me, he walked to his truck and drove away. I hadn't taken his threat seriously, I wasn't afraid of him hurting me, but I wasn't sure if I could tell Caroline about him cheating on her. I dont know if I could tell her something that would hurt her so much. Even if I did tell her, she probably wouldn't believe me...
