Stars Are Part of Heaven Too, You Know Part 8

Romance Created on 4-27-08 Views(23) Story Rating G

Before she knew what was going on, he grabbed her around the waist with one arm and put his other hand on the back of her head. He pulled her close and kissed her hard, and Anna instantly melted into him. He pulled back for a moment and whispered to her, "With the lips of an angel." Then he moved back in to kiss her more. In that moment, she knew that during all those wasted years he had liked her just as much if not more.

It all happened so fast that Anna felt that the kiss lasted only a second, but before she knew it, Coach Wyane and Principal Brown were prying them gently apart. She felt her face flush and she thought she must be redder than a beet. She had never been so embarrassed in her life.

She looked at James who looked just as flushed as she felt. Both of them were breathing hard and she knew the kiss had lasted quite a while for the principal to notice and for the entire school to gather around.

The crowd parted and let Principal Brown and Coach Wyane through with Anna and James following them. Anna passed Emily Lacks and Katie and said as quickly as she could, "I’m sorry guys. Everyone else was right. I just didn’t want you to know. Sorry."

The principal led them outside the gym doors and turned to Coach Wyane. "Well, Anna and James, what do have to say?"

"We just wanna say we’re sorry. We know that’s not allowed," James answered for them both.

"Well, Coach, James is yours. I need to go back in. Talk to Anna too for me. I know you are good kids and it won’t happen again." He turned to walk back in and then turned. "Nice move James. It’s about time you two get together," he smiled at them and then left.

Coach blew out a breath. "James, Mr. Brown seems to be pretty slack towards you two. I have to admit it was about time!" he smirked at them. "But I have to give you some sort of penalty. I don’t want to do this, but this is the best I can do. James, you can’t pitch at the next game. Don’t worry. The team we’re playing next we can beat without you pitching. You’ll be put on short."

"And for you Anna. Well, I can’t really do anything to you, so I guess you go free this time. Just don’t let it happen ever again in school you two. I hate to do this, but I think you’d be better off just to leave. I’ll see you at practice James. And Anna, be easy on Richard. He’s a fine kid too and doesn’t need to be hurt. Now get out of here." He smiled at them one more time and went back inside the gymnasium, leaving them staring after him, too afraid to talk to each other.

"Well," said James. "Let me take you home at least. I’m really sorry. I guess we’re going out now, right?"

She turned to look at him and replied, "I don’t know what happened exactly back there, James, but I can’t go out with you until I tell Richard. I feel terrible already."

He bowed his head. "Fair enough. But you still need a ride home and I’ve got a car. It may be a little beaten up, but it’ll work."

"OK, thanks James. Oh and by the way, I’m always gonna call you Germ," she said, smiling at him. He smiled back at her and his features changed slightly; he finally seemed embarrassed about what had happened.

"So, uh, what time do you need to be home?" he asked nervously.

"About ten," she said, ducking her head. He glanced at his watch.

"Well, it’s only 9:40," he told her. Then his head came up, the look back in his eyes, only somewhat friendlier, she was used to. "Can we at least go somewhere together for a minute? I need to take this all in. How about we go to the lake?"

The lake was a hotspot all the popular kids stayed at during the summer when they got tired of under the bridge. It was said to be the perfect place to stargaze and many people had had their first kiss there. It was only about five minutes away from the school.

"OK," she replied timidly. He smiled and they turned to walk out.
