Summer of the Broken part 10Comments=Love!!!!!!

When I woke up in the morning, Sam hadn't left my side. He was sleeping soundly with his arm perched underneath my neck and he was breathing deeply. I wanted to get to the shower before Brooke had a chance to wake up and see me so I slipped out of Sam's grip, got some clothes, and headed toward the shower. I was really happy to know that she wasn't awake when I quietly moved passed her room.
Ironically, when I got to the bathroom, I ran to the toilet. The acid that was in my stomach tasted disgusting as I threw up. I hated that I was still sick and when I wiped my mouth with my arm, I had to look at it because it hurt when I did so. There, completely noticeable, was a bruise on my wrist. The bad part about the bruise was that it took the shape of fingers.
"Damnit."I whispered under my breath.
I showered extra long so that I could come up with some reasonable way to hide or even explain why the bruise looked the way it did.
"When I fell down the stairs, I grabbed my arm and that's why it looks like that."
"I don't know, maybe my arm hit each stair on the way down."
I honestly didn't know what to say. All I knew was that after I got out of the shower, Sam would probably be awake along with Brooke and Jane. Thinking that I could hide it, I finally got out and got dressed.
I was right when I entered my room. Sam must've taken a shower downstairs because his hair was wet and he was dressed in different clothes. Mechanically, he held his arms out for me with a worried expression.
"What's the matter?"he asked me when I embraced him."You look ten shades of grey."
"What?"I laughed a little.
"Are you still sick is what I meant. You're face is pretty off color."he pulled his head back to look at my face to examine it.
"A little. I think I got the worst of it the other day though. I'm sure it will go away soon."I assured him.
"Kids!"Jane yelled from downstairs."Breakfast is ready."
"Yum."I said while smelling whatever it was that she was cooking downstairs."I'm really hungry."
"Well don't let me stop you."he grinned."Maybe that will make you feel better."
I didn't let him finish talking when I grabbed his arm and swiftly made my way downstairs. It was nice to see that Brooke hadn't gotten up yet. Jane had already finished making our plates and was setting out the orange juice.
The scrambled eggs were already gone from my plate when I noticed Sam had barely taken two bites of his. Him and Jane both gave me warm smiles when they saw how embarassed I was for eating like a pig. Jane brought the pan over and scooted some more eggs onto my plate.
"Thanks."I said with a mouthful of food.
The eggs were so good. Maybe I hadn't noticed before how delicious they were before. I ate a little slower this time so that I didn't look like an underfed child. I waited until Sam was done with his food until I finished mine.
"Seems like you're over that sickness."Jane said while taking a sip of her coffee."How about your arm? Does it still hurt?"
"Huh? No, it's fine."I slowly moved it under the table in attempt at them not seeing the bruise."I feel like a million bucks. That was the best breakfast ever Jane."
She rolled her eyes and grinned."Well I'm glad you enjoyed it."
"Too bad there's none left for Brooke."I bit my lip to keep from smiling."I guess she'll just have to make her own when she wakes up."
"She already ate."Jane said."I didn't know how much she liked this town. Apparently, she went out to go look for some real estate. Or at least, that's what I thought she was doing."
"Real estate?"I said with a horrified expression."She can't move here."
"I could've just heard wrong."Jane changed her tone."Besides, she doesn't seem like the type of person who would go well around here."
"Sorry."I let the goosebumps leave my body."I just overreacted a little."
The truth was, I wasn't just in fear for me, but for Jane as well. Whatever Brooke was cooking up, I didn't want Jane or Sam to have any part of it. I would make damn sure she would never touched those who actually mattered to me.
"Looks like she's back early."Sam said sourly when we all heard a car coming toward the house.
"Excuse me."I said, getting up from the table and heading upstairs to the bathroom.
Why did I have to eat so much? Especially while I was still sick. The delicious eggs that I had just scarfed down now tasted disgusting coming out. I'm pretty sure every little bit I ate was no longer in my stomach.
I didn't want them to think I was too sick to leave the house so I brushed my teeth and composed myself. Besides, I couldn't stand being around Brooke today. I felt like I could probably kill her if the chance came.
Taking a deep breath, I made my way back to the kitchen only to find that Sam and Jane were gone. When I heard their laughter outside, I felt better and followed their voices. I was weary about what Brooke had told them to make them laugh so hard.
However, when I got outside, I was taken by surprise. Instead of Brooke, it was Mr.Jacobs. When he saw my mouth hanging open, he raised his eyebrows and smirked.
"Hey Becca!"he said with excitement to his voice."Is that really you?"
Oh my Gawd! It took a minute to understand what he meant. I had forgotten how different I looked now compared to before I got here. Also, I was pretty sure I had gotten taller and a little thicker than the stick I used to be.
"Uh, hey!"I rearranged my expression to go and greet him."I didn't know you were coming."
"Yeah. Wanted to come check up on you and Sam. And,"he began as he hugged Jane closer,"I just had to see mom."
Though I was sure I loved him like family and trusted him with my life, I couldn't help but feel strange with him being here. Not to mention the fact that he didn't know Brooke was here. I had lied to Sam about it too and I knew it was going to catch up with me. And even when Mr.Jacobs found out, I knew Sam's questions would build up and he would definitely know something was up.
"Thank you Jesus!!! Okay, for some odd reason I got banned and thought that was the end of everything for me. Thankfully, Jseek fixed my account. So now I can continue with my writing. I've been dying to post so much that I'm so glad I'm back on. So onto the story, comments...thoughts??? Enjoy"
