The Unforgiven Chapter 1

Chapter 1: An Animal

I could've been more than just a lost soul. I could've been like all of the other girls who had cute clothes and money to spend whenever they pleased. I could've had a nice car to drive and a boyfriend to go with it. I could've been captain of the cheerleading squad, the Junior student body president, or maybe even the catcher on the school's softball team.

Yet, my life wasn't like everyone elses.  Sure I was somewhat pretty and drew a lot of guys in with my auburn hair and green eyes. And my physique wasn't too bad either. There was just one tiny little problem.......My father.

He was a police officer in the smaller type town that I lived in. Everyone assumed he was this high and mighty figure of the law that held the peace. He could carry a conversation with mostly anyone for the longest time. Except, no one knew how much of a dick he really was.

My name was not Crimson to him, it was stupid bitch or his favorite, MISTAKE. After a while of living without the whore of a mother who left us for "bigger and better things," I got used to him treating me like I was a piece of garbage. I could never excel in anything because of his rules. Actually, I was pretty much a prisoner in his home and I hated it. I had to remind myself time and time again that he only had control over me until I graduated. Hell, I didn't even have to wait that long to leave. Just until I found a way to escape.

"So, you're going to be home after school."he reminded me."If I find out you went to the tracks again or out with that slutty girl again, you know what's going to happen."

"She's not slutty."I gave him a dirty look and started mumbling under my breath."You're just mad because she wouldn't have your old ass."

"What was that?"he smirked. He always found pleasure in me talking back. That way, he could have an excuse to slap me or throw me into the wall."That's what I thought."he took one last sip of his coffee and got up to leave."Just remember, we'll be watching."

"Fuck."I muttered when he was no longer in hearing distance."What the hell are you going to do stupid?"

Of course 'they' would be watching. Because my father was in fact a police officer, it meant he could have the other police officers keep an eye on me. After he told them I had tried to run away and that he couldn't live without me, they watched me wherever I went. It was sad really. I couldn't even go throw the trash without seeing one of them drive by.

I couldn't remember a day when my father told me he was proud of me for anything. Even when I thought back to my mother, I couldn't recall her ever complimenting me on anything. I would never wish this upon anyone else. Having to live, not even as a person, but more like an animal would be the end of anyone. But somehow, I was still breathing.

Walking to school was one of the only times I could actually breathe. Even with people watching me, I felt a sense of comfort being able to get away from my father. There was also that possibility that I could someday get away from this town if I just slipped through the cracks somehow.

"Oh Crimson!"Daisy yelled to me when I got to school.

She was my only friend. I didn't understand what she saw in being my friend. She knew how my life was and yet, she still remained my friend. Honest to God, she was the only person in this world that I loved.

"I told you I would come and get you."she examined me up and down as if she were searching for battle wounds."I was waiting for you to call all morning long."

"Sorry. He left late today and I didn't feel like fighting. Plus, the walk was nice."I gave her a reassuring smile and kept pace with her as we walked to class.

"So are you going to come with me to the tracks today? I got Eddy to bring a friend."she looked at me eagerly."He's on the soccer team."

"Can't."I shrugged my shoulders."He'll kill me."

When I said those words, I never actually joked about it. Even she knew that. Never did she have me press my luck either. She knew what would happen.

"That bites."she sighed."Maybe your dad will let you come to the movies on Friday."she smiled weakly and then I watched as it dissapeared."Who am I kidding? I'm sorry Crimson."

"Don't be sorry."

We both sat down in first period and waited for the announcements to go. I could wait forever for school to start. Unlike everybody else, I loved school. It was my getaway.

"Good afternoon students. Please rise to say the pledge of allegiance. I plegde allegiance to the flag......As many of you know, tryouts for cheerleading will be this coming Monday. Any of you who wish to try out need to see Mrs.Guard in the Gym. Forms will be available in the office. The police are offering a reward for anyone with information on the deaths of Sammy Rhodes and Keith Higgins. The fugitive is described as having worn a red baseball cap and a black leather jacket. Officers also say he has dark hair and may have shaved his head..."

"Like they're going to find him."I said to Daisy."That's not nearly enough information to give to find someone."

"I know."she said alarmed."I hope they find him though."

"Hopefully my dad don't find him."

I gazed at the blackboard, picturing my father interrogating someone. Just the image of him yelling at someone made me shudder. And even then, I somehow felt sorry for the murderer who, if captured, would face my father.

"So I didn't want to rush anything with the first chapter. I promise it will start getting good though. I just had Be My Baby ready to go and then I clicked something. I dunno I'll try and post it again tonight. Might take me a while. If not then tomorrow. Comment and enjoy lovelies...."
