A week later Kaylee, Scott, and Matt were in a
suite meeting Kaylee's parents. Her dad smiled and shook
Matt's hand as did her mother. Then they gingerly took
the baby.
Kaylee gave Matt a silent warning as to not slip
up and tell them why she had run away.He gave her a wink
to let her know it was all good. Her father came over
after handing the baby to his wife. He took Kaylee by
the hand and walked her out to the balcony.
"The ocean looks like it's churning out there in
the middle. He said pointing. "But then it looks real
calm there in the front. And way out yonder it has a
past, farther than you can see."
Kaylee smiled knowing her father was trying to
get him to tell what had happened. "Daddy. I'm not ready
to tell you or mom."
"Have you at least talked to Matt? Sweetie it
wasn't because I forced your graduation night to be my
way was it?"
"No dad. Far from it. Much farther than you can
see. The ocean may be farther than we can see but my
secret is much much farther. And much bigger." She
Walked toward her dad and gave him a tight embrace. "Dad
I love you. YOu know that. Give me time. Please don't
tell Kyle where I am. He screwed my life up that is why
I left. I won't ever tell you the details. But he is a
major factor in the whole thing. Let it be at that."
Kaylee smiled up at him and walked back in the house.
After the week was over everybody said their
goodbye's and headed home. On the way home Kaylee mostly
slept unless Matt asked her to drive. She was hoping by
the time they got home the DNA results would be in. They
pulled into the drive and Matt opened the Mailbox. He
sifted through it and and handed her the envelope. It
was in! He gave her a grim look. She smiled at him and
took a deep breath. They walked in the house baby on
board. And while Matt started to feed him, Kaylee
started to open the envelope.
Kaylee:
We are pleased to inform you that the results
for your DNA test for Scottie Vernelli are in. As you
know the results can only show as much information as
the information you have given. We are able to say that
the father of the baby should have been Caucasian, Black
haired and 6'1. We hope you are please with the
information we have been able to provide you with. If
you find anything in error please feel free to call our
office at 1-800-334-5678 ex 342.

"Is it Kyle? Or Brock? Which does that describe?"
"Brock." SHe whispered.
