The teacher's voice seemed to trail off as Laura started to lose all intrest.
She stared out the window, twirling her hair around her finger. There were to many thoughts running through her mind to focus on just one.
With a distracted look and stars in her eyes, she re-foucused her attention back on the task at hand. She had not been paying any attention at all for the last thirty some odd minutes.
The teacher, aware of the unintrested look on her face, asked her to put what she had just lectured into her own words. There was a long, silent pause, the bell for sixth period to end rang loud in Laura's ears, awakening her from her daze.
"I want everyone to write a two page, front and back, paper on the lecture that took place today. Have it handed into me by Thursday." Mrs. Wilkinson said as the students filed out the door.  The hallways filled with overlapping chatter and kids in a hurry to get to the last period of the day. When everyone headed into their classrooms Laura stayed behind. She went into the bathroom, set her books down, and walked toward the sink. She looked up into the mirror and asked herself  "What's the point?" She turned on the faucet, shaped her hands together like a small cup and let water flow into her hands, and splashed the cold water on her face.
She then turned and walked out the door, still wondering why it had to be her.
She headed back the hallway from which she came, and walked into her last class of the day. Everyone looked up at her, and Mr. Hughes turned his back from the whiteboard and said sternly "Laura, you're late. See me after class."
The kids in the room taunted laura with the type of sound that made her veins run cold.
"Find your seat." The teacher said and returned to the math problem upon the board.
The only seat that was availible was a seat two seats from the window in the second row to the back of the room. The seat next to the person who was the the one running through her mind at that exact moment, and that was not a good thing. It was not a good thing at all. Aiden Jake Ryan looked at her with a look that made her cringe.  She walked toward her seat and proped her backpack up against the leg of the desk, and sat down.  She scooted her desk as little away from Aiden as possible, for there was not much room to move the desk anway. Aiden turned in his desk and unzipped his backpack. From it he took out a college-ruled notebook and a black ball point pen. He opened the notebook and quietly tore out a page.
Laura looked at him with disgust knowing what he was about to write. He wrote something down, folded the paper in half twice and looked up at the teacher who was clueless to what was taking place. He passed it to Laura. Not entirely knowing why, she opened it.
It read:
Laura,
You know you want me to.
It's not that big of a deal anyway.
And no-one is going to find out.
So, meet me after school behind the chemistry building.
   --Aiden
Laura looked up at him and raised one eyebrow. He did the same. The same look was exchanged but with different thoughts in both of their minds.
Laura looked back down at the note. She knew that she had to allow this, even though it made her feel used, angry and helpless. She knew even at that, if she did not do what he wanted she would get it. (i)
She looked back up at him and nodded with a look that covered her fear and pain.
He winked at her.
Both of them looked back up at the teacher. Within ten mintues Aiden had already lost intrest, Laura did too. Still, she kept her eyes on the board not daring to look over at the person who had corrupted her focus.
She could feel his eyes looking at her.  With that same seductive look that she always saw in her nightmares. She tried focusing on what Mr. Hughes had been saying. It was no use.
She began to picture herself in the next 20 minutes. She shuttered.
Ever since the 4th grade this had gone on. She had never told anyone, for the consequences were unmanigible. No-one even knew, and if they had known, they had kept their mouth shut and told no-one.
The minutes seemed to be going by faster than usual.   Before Laura knew it the bell rang, and all the kids hurried out the door laughing and talking loudly.
Aiden got up out of his desk slowly moving as if he was trying to suggest something. Laura knew what it was, she always knew.
Laura rose as fast as she could so that mabye, just mabye, she could lose Aiden in the crowd of kids and run home.  She was almost running out the door, when Aiden said "Woah, where do you think your goin'? Come back here!" Laura ignored him. Luckily for her there was still the afterschool crowd in the halls.
She ducked under people's arms leaning against lockers and swerved around theopen doors. She was walking so fast that she almost lost her footing, but didn't.
When she got outside to the main yard she started running home.
Aiden was still somewhat behind barely getting out of the crowd of students. He too started runnning. Laura did not live thata far away so it did not take her that long to walk to her house, let alone run. When she came to her house she ran up the steps and swung the door open, she dare not look back to see where and if Aiden was behind her.
She got inside and closed the door behind her, with a shaky hand she locked the lock and sat down behind the door.
The only person who was there was her friend, Beth. Beth had 7th period free so she was able to grant Laura's wish of meeting her at her house right after school.
"Something wrong?" Beth asked with a concerned look on her face.
