 part. 3

He headed for the door, when a car pulled up in front of the house. Who else but Garrett.
"What are you doing here?" Mark asked.
"I came here to show you and your family the house that i was talking about!"
"I didn't ask you to come here!" Mark exclaimed.
"I was just trying to be helpful!"
"I am about to go have dinner with my family. Now is not the best time! Yeah, you called and told me about the house, but you did not say anything about coming here uninvited!"
Without a word being spoken Garrett turned around, got into his car and drove away.
"Why is he so....?" Mark tried to find a word but could not. He realized that he was the one at fault for not being nice to his own family member. Mark thought about it and said "Eh, I'll call him twomorrow and apologize."
Mark walked up the steps of the front porch and saw Melissa sitting by the window. He entered the house and his family came to hug him.
 "Was that Garrett?" Emily asked.
 "Yes unfortunatly."
"Hun, i know you don't like him very much but he called me today and...."
 "He called you to huh?"
"Yeah, he did and he said that there was a house near his availble. He asked me if that was already a plus, and i answered sure i guess it is..."
"He said that line to me too. And i answered almost the exact same." Mark smiled.
 "Well dinner's ready." Emily commented.
"Before we eat i have to tell you and Melissa something."
 "Ok go ahead."
"I found a house that i think you both will like. Would you like to come to the office and see the tour? Online first, and then if you like it as much as i do then we can look at it in person. When Garrett told me he had a house for sale near his i was sure glad i found this one before-hand. I told him i'd think about it. But knowing him he'll probably be back twomorrow to show us the house. So it's your decision on which house you want to see first." Mark smiled at both of them.
"I think we should go see the house Garrett wants us to look at first just to get it out of the way. Who knows, Maybe it will actually be nice" Emily stated.
"Ok that's a good idea. What do you think Emily?"
 "Yeah, i like that too."
 "Ok it's settled then."
The family then continued on to dinner and ate rather hurriedly. They were all tired. They were going to be tired twomorrow too but they didn't mind as long as the whole situation was being sorted out.
When everyone was finished eating, everyone headed up stairs.
"Well everyone we've got a pretty jammed day twomorrow so it's time for us to get some sleep."
Mark and Emily headed toward the door of their room when Melissa started to speak.
"Aren't you going to tuck me in daddy?" Emily frowned.
"No not tonight. Go to sleep."
"I'll tuck you in twomorrow sweety. Ok?"
"But if don't tuck me in, i can't go to sleep!"
"Just try as hard as you can ok?"
"Well can you please read me a story then?"
"I'm sorry sweetheart but i'm too tired."
 "Fine."
Mark and Emily both walked into their room and shut the door. Melissa was still standing outside the door. She started to think to herself "All i wanted was a story." She started to cry but decided to be a strong little girl. So she went into her room and tried to go to sleep. It took her a little longer but she succeeded.
The following morning Mark went into Melissa's room to wake her up.
She was already awake and had been for the last 6 mintues.
"I'm sorry sweety. Daddy is just under a lot of stress right now. I promise i'll tuck you in tonight. I'll even read you two stories and give you extra kisses and hugs. Ok?"
Melissa turned around from where she was laying and said "Ok daddy."  She hugged him with every bit of strength she had.
Mark smiled as big as he could and said "Ok. Are you hungry?"
 "Not really." She replied.
"Me neither. Let's go ask your mom if she is."
Mark took his daughter's hand and they both walked down the stairs.
Emily was already dressed and ready to go. "I'm not all that hungry." She said.
Melissa and Mark both looked at each other.
Mark continued on with "Well in that case i guess i'll just call Garrett and tell him we're on our..."
Just then Garrett pulled up in front of the house.
"How does he do that?" Mark and Emily both stated at the same time.
Garrett walked up to the house. "Are you guys ready yet?" His lips curled into a mischievious smile.
""I was just going to call you when.."
"That doesn't matter! Let's just go! Follow behind me!"
"Wow what's his problem?" Emily asked rolling her eyes.
"I don't think he ever got over last spring. Remember? When we promised he could stay with us, and then we had to say no at the last minute, becuase of money problems?"
"Oh yeah i remember. That was a long time ago though."
"You can always count on Garrett to hold a grudge, but nevermind him. Let's just go see the house and get it over with."
The whole family piled into the car and followed behind Garrett to the house.
When they pulled up in front Mark's eyes widened. It was everything and more. Not what he had expected. It was almost exactly like the online house, only the windows were older and one was broken but he could easily fix that.
Everyone got of the car and met up on the front of the steps.
"Not what you were expecting from me was it?" Garrett asked.
"No. Not really." Mark answered with a nervous laugh.
"Well, i don't hold grudges anymore, and it pains me to think that you think i would try to ruin you. Or try to get you to into a crappy house. Maybe now you will fucking understand how i felt. Gosh no trust at all from you!! Are we family or are we not?!" Garret shouted.
"No need to yell Garrett, and i would highly appreciate you not using that language in front of my family."
"I don't give a damn about your fucking family! You can forget about the tour. You can forget about the house. Just forget it. All of it."
"Daddy what was he talking about?"
"Nothing sweety. Go wait in the car ok?" Mark tried to smile at his daughter.
 "Ok."
"Mark, why was he so angry?"
"You heard what he said. In between the lines, he is still angry about last spring."
"Then why would he find this beatiful house for us?"
 "Good question."
"What are we going to do?"
"We still have the online house, remember?"
"Oh yeah. So are we going to your office now?"
 "Yeah."
"Mark got in the drivers seat and turned around to face Melissa.
He said, "Never again will i.....

numbbbb0z Plus it was sort've hard to understand, the text. Like this "Mark and Emily headed toward the door of their room when Melissa started to speak. "Aren't you going to tuck me in daddy?" Emily frowned." hehe. Still good though! :) I hope you write many many more stories in your lifetime. =)

numbbbb0z I really like this. It needed some work in some areas, and the transitions from location to conversation was sort've hard to follow...but good story nontheless! It felt like, the ending needed more emphasis, you know? Reading the ending over, I can feel Garrett's anger and pain..but it just needs alittle more, yaknow? I understand you may hate me, but this comment is strictly from one artist to another. :) - PLEASE don't leave Testriffic. I don't think anybody would hate you. If people don't talk to you? Fuck 'em! Find someone else :) - Good story <3
