The John Hancock building must have been a marvel to behold in its completion.  Even today it has to be admired.

Dr. Vernon, or should I say Vernon now, however, just couldn’t find the words to describe its wonder.  Many have been left speechless by Chicago arcitecture, but at this moment, dangling by one’s neck high above Michigan Avenue would be enough.  Over eleven-hundred feet if I remember the display exhibit in the observation room.  The moonless, crisp windy air set a very sureal backdrop to my situation.

As much as I would love to say that it was my very own hand clutching his throat, lucky for him it wasn’t.  Or anyone's hand for that matter.  The sweat accumulating from his body would have sent Kristi Alley through a city manhole.

However, it was actually even more entertaining watching him try and pry away my chokehold with his hands.  Scraping, scrambling, and clawing for my hands, his efforts were in vein as his face turned bluer with my relentless hold.  Its a very instinctive battle on his part.  However, it is my hold that’s keeping him alive, even if it’s for only a little while longer.

It’s a double-edge sword, really.  One being choked, they naturally do everything in their power to be allowed to breath.  However, if not for the chokehold, he ultimately falls to his death.

Some may even begin to flail helplessly at the arms and body of the aggressor in attempts to free themselves.  He did not, but even if he tried, he was well beyond my reach as I held fast with my ever-so-invisible, but ever-so-real, clutch.

As gratifying as this was to watch this man suffer, the punishment for his crimes cannot be served through fear and bowel-movement alone.  He knew very well what I was debating in my head. Even if he couldn’t say it, I heard it. He knew I heard it.

Would Superman do this? His thoughts echoed through my head as in an empty chamber.

I’ve idolized Superman all my life. Now more than ever I finally have the opportunity to represent his very character.  However, in this situation would Superman really hand Vernon over to the authorities, knowing full well the flaws of American justice?  Yet, it’s well known that Superman was no executioner.

Superman also never lost his one link to humanity. Superman never lost Lois Lane. Had he lost her to any one of his rivals, would he not be here holding the guilty
