-November 16, 2007- Lacey-              Alison drew me a picture of us at the playground. I didn’t know my head was the same size as the slide. She didn’t speak at all, although when I took her to the bathroom I heard her humming on the toilet. The sound of the door made me jump Recess. To my surprise Gloria walked in. She looked straight at me, and got up and walked across the room to speak to her. “Where is Tabby” I asked.“They had to calm her down, I shouldn’t be doing this,” she continued, “Clark tried to pin it on her, she didn’t take it too well”“Oh my God, what a coward” I remarked.“I know,” First time we’ve ever agreed on anything since dating my husband. She went on “I’m not sure when they’re coming down”I felt a tug on my shirt. Alison looked at me curiously, and then looked over to the door for Tabby. I picked her up, “Aunt Tabby and Uncle Darrell will be back soon,” I explained, “ Just some bad people are lying and saying your aunty is the bad person”.            Her immensely brown eyes looked into mine and she started to silently cry. Lacey why the heck would you tell her that, stupid!  “No sweetheart, your aunty is fine, she’s just taking a rest” I spoke softly. Her sobs became loud, and Gloria looked at me confused. “Shh… shh… its alright” I whispered, “They’ll put the real bad people away”.She looked at Gloria and then back at me, “No” she mumbled.Gloria’s jaw was now dropped at her re-found voice again. “No what?” I asked.“No, Aunt Tabby is tha bawd person” she replied.“Alison, honey, what do you mean she’s the bad person?”“Aunt Tabby hut my mommy and my daddy” she cried again.Gloria stepped in, “How do you know this, how do you know?”Alison’s eyes twinkled at her, “I saww, I was sarred in my cwoset,” She buried her face in the curve of my neck. She paused; turning her head, “Mommy always says to rwun really fast”. Gloria looked at me, and I at her. Oh my God, She saw it all. “Well, Tabby won’t hurt anymore people. I promise,” I kissed her on the forehead and set her down on the couch behind us.             Gloria retrieved her walkie-talkie out from her pocket. She scurried out of the playroom and I followed, leaving Alison to color with the two year-old. “Now what!” I shouted to Gloria, trailing behind her.“Now we find Tabitha” she shouted back.            We turned the corner to find the bailiff, Darrell, and Tabby sitting on a bench. Gloria stood in front of her; handcuffs already open. Tabby’s emerald eyes enlarged, Gloria took a hold of her arm, “You are under arrest for the murder of Vince and Heather Hamcott, anything you say can and will be held against you in a court of law…”Tabby, at first tried to squirm away, but gave up. Her shouts were crazed and piercing  “I had to! It was the only way. I didn’t mean to kill him… She was going to take my baby brother away from me!”She turned to face me. Her face scrunched, cheeks pouted, and then she spat on my heels, “You,” she screamed, “You have to markings of the devil too, just like her!”  She was fixed on my ankle, and I realized she was talking about my tattoo. “That family wrecker had that same mark! God asked me to do! I did it for him! That Devil was going to take my brother away, the Lord begged me to rid her!” She shouted all the way out the door. Darrell remained sitting; he looked oblivious to what had happened. I stood there, people gathering at the commotion, wondering what to do. It came together; she hated me because of my tattoo, and Alison loved it. I had the same tattoo as Heather. Then I thought about the times Tabby wanted Alison to come by her, and how she hesitated to go. The pride Tabby had for raising Vince, and the little interest she had in Heather’s death.I came back into the playroom, Alison looked scared. I sat next to her on the couch and held her in my arms. “Is tha bad aunty gowne?” she asked quietly.“Yes, my little beautiful, it’s okay now, everything’s gonna be alright” I kissed her forehead and rocked her in my arms until we both fell asleep.
