Shanaya got in the van and put Cassie back in the backseat and buckled her up.She smiled at Malik.
"What?"He said raising one eyebrow.
"Nothin',just smilin' dats all."Then her smiled faded."My grandma's sick though."
"Oh.Sorry to hear that."
"But I came to the conclusion that I wanna go home and make up with my mama.This can't go on forever.She can't last a day knowing I'm out in these streets."She nodded to her statement.
"If only my mom knew that."He nodded also looking ahead.
Shanaya put her hand on his."We can go get some gas first though if id doesn't work out.I'm sure I got somethin' in my shoe."She took of her left shoe and dug through it.Like a miracle or something a five dollar bill was in there.She handed it to Malik."Dat's all I got."
He took it."Dat's all we need for now."He started the car and headed for the gas station.
They went to the one just two blocks away.He went in the store and payed for it while Shanaya pumped.She looked up and down the street carefully.She stopped the pump at $10 and put it back.She closed the lid and got back in the car.
"And now here's an olf school jam on 100.7."The radio said.It played 'Age Ain't Nothing But A Number' by Aaliyah.Shanaya turned it up.
"This is the shit!"She clapped and sung with it until she heard a soft cry.She stopped.She climbed through the backseat and grabbed Cassie.Malik turned down the volume."Turn dat back up!"
He did so."Why you blastin' dis music when da baby in da car?"
"She don't mind.Huh Cassie?"She looked at Cassie who was now wide awake.Shanaya smiled and grabbed a chew toy and put it in front of Cassie.Cassie grabbed it and chewed on it."She's is so adorable."She giggled to herself."Take us to Mama's house,Malik."
He pulled out of the parking lot and headed towards her mom's house.
*Kina's House*
Shanaya grabbed Cassie and went up to the porch.She wasn't sure if her mom was gone or not.They didn't have a car and she didn't know what time it was.The door was unlocked though.She pushed it open and looked around.No one was there.She went upstair to her mom's room.
On her bed,she didn't see her mom but a box.It didn't have a label ot anything but it looked like some sort of tool box or something.She put Cassie down for a minute.As you're about to find out Shanaya's a very curious and nosy.She went toward's her mom's bed.For a minute she hesitated but her curiosity got the best of her.
Slowly,she pushed the locks up and opened the box looking what was inside of it.She pushed the top back and her eyes went wide and her jaws nearly fell off her face.
A needle!And a string and some substance she just knew was heroin.She knew her mom smoked cigarettes but she didn't know it was this bad.She slowly picked up the needle and held it as of it was a bloody knife.She shook her head in disbelief.
"How could she?"She whispered to herself."She probably took my weed and smoked it!I do weed but...not heroin."She said the name as if it was a murderer.Well,it is a murderer.Thinking just that Shanaya put the needle back in it's place and closed the box.She locked it back and grabbed the box.
She was about to dump it.She headed toward the door and stopped in her tracks at the sight of her mom.Her mom stared at her,then looked at the box.
"What you doin' with that?"
