Chapter 2 - The superhero life…

The next morning I woke to my cellphone ringing.

“What” I answered.

I knew there was only one person who had that number, and that was my brother.

“Hey man listen there’s was a big bank robbery down on third street and I got blamed for it, im at the county jail, this is my only phone call, do you think you could come bail me out?” he replied quickly.

“I’ll be right there” I said

“Thanks man, alright bye” he said as the phone cut off. Im guessing that was the end of his one call. Thinking quickly I paused time so the real robber wouldn’t get very far. I got in my car and began to pull out of the driveway,when I looked at my neighbor’s yard. He was paused watering his lawn in his robe, and frowning at the dog from across the street which was using his lawn as a toilet. I smiled to myself, then remebered the bank, the robbery, and my brother. Upon driving I spot another motorist wearing a mask, with an odd shaped sack sitting next to him. That must be the robber I figured. I quickly thought up a plan that was sure to work. I took the robber out of the car, grabbed the handcuffs from the policeman’s belt, and put them in my pocket. I hopped in the truck and parcked at the bank. Took the bag of money out, and handcuffed the robber. I went over to the policeman, handcuffed the robber to him, and handed the policman the bag of money. I looked at him, and he smiled at me, but I thought I paused everyone. He looked at me for a second than said “We are two of the chosen one’s”

“The chosen ones, what in the world are you talking about, and why arent you paused, who are you” I asked quickly.

“All in good time John” he said cooly.

“Who are you and how do you know my name” I demanded

“Ok I’ll tell you all I know” he said.

After a minute of watching him be pensive I said “Anytime now” impatiently.

“Ok ok just calm down, well I guess I should start with my name, its Arthur therup. Now there are five chosen ones. We are all Immune to eachothers powers, including time shifting…”

I cut him off “Time shifting I thought I could only pause it”

“No you can fastfoward, pause, stop, pause, you control time.” He said enthusiastically.

“And I notice you sure have been using your powers alot lately” he said with a smile

“And how would you know that” I asked sucpicously.

“Remember time control doesn’t affect me ive spent many a time being the only one moving in a supermarket” he said laughing

I laughed appathetically. “Can I continue uninterupted” he pleaded.

“Be my guest” I said.

“Ok so there are five chosen ones, and we each have a different power. You and I are the only ones I know about. You can control time, I can control fire, one can control air,one can control water, and one can control earth. Time and the four elements.” He explained.

“So how do we find the others” I asked.

“We call them of course” he said.

“How” I asked simply.

“You can only find them when all is stopped, then the time keeper must call out the four elements and they will be drawn to him.” He read off a piece of paper. “This is the prophecy” he explained.

“Well that’s just great, by stopped I suppose it mean’s paused” I said.

He nodded in agreement. “And you’re the time keeper” he added.

“So now all I have to do is call them” I said as he handed me the prophecy. I named them off in the order they were in on the paper.

“Fire, Water, Wind, and Earth.” I said unsure. My voice seemed to carry for miles.

“ Your voice carries far when there’s no sounds to drown it out, huh?” arthur asked with a smile.

“Yes it does” I agreed.

“Hey Arthur, if you can control fire then why arent you a firefighter?” I asked.

“Because, I’ve always wanted to be a policeman” he chuckled.

Suddenly there were three pops right after one another. Then three people appeared.
