Chapter 9

"... to get Mark to hit on you.  He knows you wouldn't fall for it, though."

Carla sat there dumbfounded.

"He continues to have Mark hit on you for a few weeks, and eventually..."

Carla's eyes have never seem so more exciting.  Her cocoa brown eyes burned passionately for more information.  Suddenly the wind blue, and her hair went into Brett's face.  He jumped back from her and stared at her with scared eyes.

Carla got up to see what was the matter.

"Stay there," he growled. "I'll continue the story from here."

She sat obediently, tears burning her eyes. 

"I didn't mean to yell, I apologize.  It's just... your scent."

Carla nodded, wiping the tears away.

"Anyways, eventually, when Harrison gives the cue," he growed more, apparently very upset with this next thought. "He's going to have Mark attempt to...to...," he choked, finally spitting out, "rape you."

Her tears came full blown now, not sure what to think or to believe.  Was Brett telling the truth? Or was he just making it all up to get her to trust him? Either way, she was falling in love fast.  She wouldn't let speak it, or even think it.

"When I heard that thought, I got here to warn you.  Warn you about Harrison, and to warn you that if Mark or Harrison lay a single finger on you, their asses will be mine."

Carla nodded.

"Now, it's getting late. I should be going, and you should be getting inside.  I sense your mother is on her way home.  She's not in a good mood," Brett stated, his eyes closed.

When he opened them, Carla noticed that they were a light golden brown, almost like hers. She said nothing, but something compelled her to try something very daring.  Something that could possibly be deadly.
