Letters Of False Hope

The letters came and went, and soon there was a steady flow of money coming in, for Franchesca had found a job. She was a seemstress. There is no evidence here on Pantomin Hill that any one with any tallent at all lived here, but she was the best seemstress around, or so I'm told by the owner of the shope's great grandaughter. The next letter that cought my eye was to Little Isadora. Isadora was 14 years old, and lived with her mother and Little Alexander. She was a very small girl, and her bones stuck out all over, she looked malnuroished, but we later found out she died of anorexia. Isadora was very beautiful, and very creative. She had imaginary friends, her own little world, and wanted to write childrens books. She never got the chance to be published.

Dearest Isadora,

Oh how I miss you so. Mother sent me your latest work; it's great. I'm sure you've heard from mother that the house isn't exactly home sweet home, but I'm making the best of it. I finaly found the cellar where they had put all the furniture away at. It was a task getting the bed up the stairs, but I had help. There's a man that I work with at the hat shope. He is the owner's son. His name is Anthony. He came over and helped me move the furniture, and we had tea. Isadora, don't tell mother about this letter, she'll be worried sick if she knows that I've found a young man that I believe I'm in love with.

Isadora, your imaginary friends visit me sometimes. I believe it's because I think about you so much. They keep telling me I need to come home, and that I'm not supposed to be here. At first they scared me, but then I figured you had sent them here to keep me company, but now that I've found Anthony, and I'm making money, you could come visit me some day, then you're friends wouldn't be neccesary and you can keep them all to yourself. I love you and tell Little Alexander that I miss him and love him.

Love,

Franchesca

Isadora never got to visit...
