Eluding Danger (chapter 5)

Drama Created on 2-23-08 Views(102) Story Rating G

Inside the door was a huge, steel room filled with inventions, all of which looked incredibly advanced. I could tell that these people really were with the FBI; not everyone could get permission to carry out the experiments that they were performing. There were crates full of animals, none of which I had ever seen: green monkeys, four-eyed toads, cows with wings etc. There were huge machines that seemed to growl at me. There were also many other objects that we already have, but they seemed to be correcting them. I was so busy wondering about what was going to happen to me and why these people were doing these experiments that I didn't realize that they had left me standing, looking at these strange objects.

"Uhh, Dan?" I called out nervously. "Hello? Is anyone there?" All that followed my awkword sentence was a deafening silence. "Nathaniel? Jorge? Jillian? Are you there?" Minutes passed, but there was still no answer. Gradually, the minutes changed into an hour and I was still alone. I was becoming increasingly scared, and it didn't help that I was in a new place surrounded by mutated animals and evil-looking objects and machines. Another hour passed, and still no one had come to get me. I had already wasted time waiting to get saved, and I didn't want to be like one of the 'helpless princesses' in fairy tales that are lazy and can't seem to save themselves. As I thought of this, I came to a conclusion: I would stop being a lazy, scared little girl and be a responsible woman. I got up and started looking for a door that lead out of this glamorous yet horribly menacing room.

"Aww, dang it!" I said in a loud whisper when I discovered that the door I had come into the room through was locked from the outside. I continued looking for an escape route. Soon, day bled into night an the room became dark. Although I could hardly see, I continued looking for a way to escape. I searched the floor, rubbed my hands along the wall, and looked for any windows or trapdoors. All night I searched, but I found nothing. I still did not give up. I had to find a way to escape, i just had to!

Suddenly, an idea popped into my head. What if one of the inventions can help me escape? I immediately began another search, this time for an invention that could knock down or drill through walls. After nearly forty-five minutes, I found what I had been looking for: a huge bulldozer.

"Why would the FBI have a bulldozer in a room full of inventions?" I asked myself aloud. Even though the thought had stopped me for a second, I continued to enter the bulldozer. I soon found the answer to why the old machine was in the room. The inside was full of flashing lights, levers, and radars. Although it was confusing, I knew that this could be my only means of escape. Cautiously, I sat in the drivers seat. I took a wild guess and pulled back one of the levers. Immediatly, I flinched and closed my eyes, but calmed down when I relized that nothing had happened.

"Elizabeth, you idiot, you have to turn it on for it to work!" I laughed at myself in a very lonely way. I thought to myself, Wow, I'm so lonely that I'm talking to myself, that must be a new low...Well, the sooner I get out of here, the better! I turned the key in the ignition and the bulldozer roared into life. Nervously, I pulled the lever that I had pulled before. The bulldozer flew forward at an amazing speed. The first thought that came into my head was to look at the speedometer. I was going 95 mph! That's definately enough force to break through the wall!

Then another thought hit me, one that was so alarming that it was accompanied by an explosion of fear in the pit of my stomache. The wall was made of steel, how could I have forgotten? I tried pulling levers and pushing more buttons to stop the machine, but it only went faster. Before I knew it, I was only ten feet from the thick, steel wall. There was a huge boom as I collided with the wall, and that was the last thing I knew until I sunk into a dark unconciousness...

Sorry I haven't written forever, but I've been really busy lately! I hope you liked it (i tried to make it longer)! Please rate and comment, and don't forget, I love your advice and respect your opinions!
