Eluding Danger (Chapter 3)

Drama Created on 2-13-08 Views(95) Story Rating G

I soon found myself following the man through the woods which he had just dragged me through. Although I knew that this may have been my only chance to run away, I didn't. I had finally come to trust this man who had entered my life in the most unimaginable way. After what seemed to be an hour, we arrived in a large clearing.

"I thought you said that we were going to your headquarters!" I said in a surprised yet slightly angry tone.

"We are," he calmly replied.

"Well, where is it?" I asked. At the moment, I was very agitated.

"Where is it?" he echoed, laughing. "You think that the FBI's headquarters would be in the middle of a camping ground?" I took a goos look around and immediately felt embarrassed. There were tents surrounding the clearing, and if you looked hard enough, there were picnic tables in the middle of it.

"Well, if the headquarters isn't here, then what are we doing here?" I asked, trying to sound smart.

"We," he said, "are looking for my car, which I believe I see." I followed his eyes over to the edge of the clearing. There I saw the most horrible car I'd ever seen! It was a dark maroon color with bright gold stripes. It was rusted and seemed like it was at least 50 years old, which must've meant that it was unsafe to ride in. Though the outside was awful, the inside was much, much worse. It had no backseat, no rearview mirror, and it was rusted on the inside, too! He's trying to kil me! I thought to myself.

"You're crazy if you expect me to ride in that," I commented, a look of revulsion on my face.

"Then I must be insane," he replied in a cool tone. "Now, just do what I say and climb in the car." I decided that it would be best to follow his orders, so I climbed into his disgusting car and sat where the backseat should have been. We rode along in absolute silence for more than three hours. After a while, I decided to break the silence.

"So what did you say your name was again?" I asked innocently.

"Dan," he replied, "Dan Crowder. But never mind that now, I think you'll be glad to hear what I have to say, as it is much more interesting." I looked at him with a puzzled expression. He stopped the car, looked me straight in the eye, and said, "We've finally reached the headquarters."
