Law picked me up in a yellow Mustang. It was then I realized Law had money! It embarrassed me for him to see my junky yard.
My family really cared nothing for the environment. There were two broken
down cars, a shed with various tools lying about, and a fire barrel for burning trash.
We had six dogs and they all ran up to Law’s car and barked. But Law wasn’t scared, he was laughing.
“Do you have a swim suit for Splash Beach?” he asked me. Splash Beach was the water park attached to Vision Land.
“Yes, I have it on underneath” I said looking down at my Queens of the Stone Age shirt and blue jean shorts. I got in and he looked at me smiling.
“I love the pink nets.” He said looking down.
“Ha ha, keep it in your pants!” I giggled. Over the past two days Law and I had learned we could say anything to each other. We never judged.
“Click it or ticket.” He said to me and I put on my seatbelt. We took off.
I was a very blunt person so I asked him, “So you live on Cahaba River Bend, but you drive a Mustang?”
“My dad got it for me.” He said quietly, “He’s a lawyer in Birmingham.”
“He doesn’t live with your mom and you?”
“Nah, they split when I was eight.” He said with his eyes looking distant.
“I’m sorry.” I knew I shouldn’t have said anything. There was an awkward silence for about five minutes.
“You want some music?” he asked bringing his sweet smile back.
“100.5?” I asked. 100.5 was the best rock station in Alabama. It was the same one I listened to every night.
“You know it!” he cranked the stereo up. Jet’s “Are You Gonna Be My Girl” blared through the speakers and we sang along. At the last chorus Law turned the volume down and looked me in the eye.
“Are you gonna be my girl?” he questioned seriously. I was stunned. And I thought I was blunt!
“Yes, Law.” I blushed.
This is so wonderful! When we reached Vision Land Law opened my door for me and we walked hand in hand to the gate. It felt like everyone in the world knew we were together.
Law handed the passes to the ticket taker and we entered. I looked around at all the cool things to do.
“Let’s ride the rides before we get wet.” He said.
“Ok.” I said.

We had been on virtually everything; the rollercoaster, bumper cars, swings, pirate ship, and others.
We had laughed, screamed, and I had cried a few times.
“Oh my god! I thought you were going to throw up on the rocket ship!” he laughed at me.
“Yeah, well who was crying on the swings?” I ribbed him.
“Well you’re only being held up by a few strings. Who wouldn’t be scared?” he chuckled.
“Let’s see,” I said looking at my map,” we haven’t been on the Ferris Wheel.”
“Onward troops!” he said marching me toward it. I giggled uncontrollably.
We took our seat and went up, up, up. I looked across the horizon.
“It’s so pretty!” I said amazed. I had only done this once before and had been too small to remember.
“Rose.” He said all of a sudden. I turned t look at him and he kissed me. I was so surprised. When he let go he laughed.
“What?” I asked wondering if I had done anything wrong.
“You’re just so damn cute!” he told me.
“Oh,” I giggled again.
The ride ended and we went to Splash Beach. As we entered the gates I heard someone behind me.
“God! Why are they here?”
