Now or Never (part two)

                                 Part Two

I rubbed my fingers against my lips to gasp in what Jacobs just did as I walked down the vacant hallway. I was the last student left inside the entire school. I walked at a fast pace until I reached the front door, opened it and ran down the stair. I ran to the parking lot where I park my car and got inside. I pulled my car keys off of my key chain and inserted it into the ignition. I opened the glove compartment and got my phone when I realized I missed two calls; one from my mother and the other from Jasmine. I left my phone in the car intentionally, because I knew that not many students would be in today.

I put on my seatbelt on and check my rearview mirror before putting the car in reserve and backing up. After I was out of the parking lot I plugged my Bluetooth up to my cell phone and called Jasmine. I waited for a minute before I had a response. “Jasmine I’m on my way right now; I just had to do something okay.” I said and she replied “NO worries got a ride from Kimberly and her mother you can just go to work.”  “Are you sure?” I asked and she replied “Just go” “Okay, bye” I said as I hung up and made a U-turn and drove down valley parkway until I reached down town. I turned on Park Avenue and drove to the corner before parking in front of the video store.

I unfasten the seat belt and grabbed my phone before turning off the ignition and checking before stepping out of the car. I ran from the driver’s side door and ran to the video store door and opened it. I walked over to the machine and punched myself in with only one minute to spare. I walked up to the counter before going behind the front counter. I slid my phone into my pocket and grabbed my shirt from off of a desk in the back and putting it on, then went back to the front. “Okay, Kenny, you can go.” I said as I pushed him aside. The customer who he was helping sucked her teeth. I guess it was because instead of doing his job he was flirting with her.

“Hi, what can I get for you?” I asked and she replied “hey I was talking to him” and I replied “Well I’m sorry about that it’s either you came to bring a movie back or get a movie, you can’t keep holding up the line. You can do that on your own time. “Whatever, but I’m looking for a movie entitled; she looked on a strip of paper before saying “He’s just not that into you”. I turned around and smiled at Kenny before saying “Go take her to get that movie.” The girl stepped out of the line while biting her bottom lip looking at Kenny. “Next Customer, What can I get for you?” I asked the older couple.

“We don’t know, what movie do you recommend?” they replied and I replied “Well it depend what genre do you want it to be in?” And they replied “Action adventure and Erotic.” And I finally replied “well the action adventure is in aisle five and the erotic movies are in aisle nine.” I said with a smile as they stepped out of the line. The next customers in line were a group of boys. I couldn’t see them before because the couple was side by side blocking them. I looked down at the register before looking back up and saying “Can I help you?” 

There they Jacob and his friends, I smile and looked around the rest of the store before repeating my self, because obviously they didn’t hear me. Jacob’s friend stepped up and said “Hey, didn’t we just see you?” and I replied “That’s irrelevant, but what can I help you with? And he replied “Where is the porn?” I looked him up and down before replying “it’s in aisle nine. See now they were on my turf which means I could say what I want.  Oh yeah and don’t forget to have your ID.” The rest of Jacob’s crew stepped out of the line and Jacob stepped up to the counter. I asked “what can I get for you?” and he replied “I’m looking for a first date movie that you and I can watch after you get off from work tonight.” And I replied “Wow you’re just so blunt with it. What makes you think I want to watch a movie with you tonight?” I said as I leaned against the counter and he replied “Because you do.” I smile and replied “aisle seven and it’s called “He’s just not that into you, I love that movie.” He smile and got out of the line.

“How may I help you?” I asked to the next customer “Yes I’m looking for the movie “Some kind of wonder, it’s an old flick.” she replied and I replied “it’s in aisle one, it should be right at the beginning. She stepped out of the line and went to aisle one. I picked up a piece of paper and ripped it in half and wrote down my number and address for when Jacob came back. Jacob’s crew came back with at least six Porn movies (freaking perverts) “Is that all” I asked “Yeah that’s all I could just by looking at them that they all were womanizers, but that had nothing to do with me. “Okay, I need to see some ID.” I said. They looked at me, because they didn’t think I was serious when I said it earlier.

Jacob stepped back in the line behind them with “He’s just not that into you” in his hands. Jacob’s friend Justin turned around toward Jacob and said check these movies out for us. See Jacob was the only eighteen year old within the group. They tried to do it all sneaky like. They handed Jacob thirty dollars and told him that they’ll meet him outside. They all stepped out of the line and Jacob stepped up to the counter. “Quite the group of friends you’ve got there.” I said as I smile and price checked all of the movies. Jacob replied “You’re one to talk one of your co worker are in aisle seven making out with a customer.” He said as he smiled

And I replied “Now let’s just hope he doesn’t get caught. Now are you renting or buying these videos.” Jacob replied “I’m renting six these and buying one.” And I replied “Which one are you buying?” And Jacob replied “He’s just not that into you” and I replied “okay, well I’ll give you my employees discounts so that will be. I said as I added all of the items up on the register. Forty-five even.” He put the money into his pocket as he pulled out his wallet.  I pulled a bag from underneath the counter and put them inside. Jacob handed me his platinum credit card and I swipe it. I waited until it went thru and then gave him the receipt to sign. “The movies are due back one week from today.” Jacobs signed the receipt and I handed him his copy, his credit card back and the piece of paper that I had written my address and number on and his bag. He smile and put the receipt, his credit card and the paper with my number and address in his wallet.

“I get off at nine today.” I smiled and said and he replied “See you at nine- thirty then. “See you then, then.  He grabbed the bag, turned around and walked out of the store.
