CHAPTER 3
LOGAN
Tracey looked as if she fell off the Titanic, and into the freezing cold waters. Her blonde hair was matted around her heartshape face, and her green eyes looked as if they were pleading for a savior to come and rescue her. I was still in utter shock that I was actually walking her home.
"I wish there was something I could do. I mean, you look as if someone ran over your dog."
Tracey looked up at me in a way that I had to remember to breath.
"Oh, I'm okay... but my dog died the other day, so thanks for bringing that up."
ARE YOU SERIOUS? The one time I say something, I make a remark about her dead dog. This was exactly one of the many reasons why I hardly dated.
"Wow.....hmmm.... I am terribly sorry."
She began to laugh out of control. Why? I have no idea. Maybe it was from the expression on my face, or the ice cream had seeped through her head and into her brain. As shocking as this sounds, I was going with option 2.
"I don't have a dog, my mom is allergic remember? I was just messing with you, but oh my gosh if you could have seen your face!"
"Well crap, you made me feel like....well....crap."
"Good...that's what I was hoping for, that means my joke worked."
"True, very true."
They were walking down the sidewalk, both of their steps in unison. Their houses were less then a block away now. Their breathing was soft and they could hear the crickets singing a lullaby amongst them. The sun had set an hour ago, leaving the two of them walking under a black velvety sky.
"You know Tracey, I can't believe I'm walking with you."
Had I mean't to say that out loud? OF COURSE NOT! Before I could bring up another question to bypass the one I had just asked, Tracey replied...
"I know, It's crazy. Honestly how long has it been since we last spoke to each other?"
That was a stumper. Obviously a long time because I could not find an answer if my life had depended on it. Thank God I wasn't in a SAW movie, other wise I would be dead with a puzzle piece embedded in my skin. Gosh, I loved that movie.
"I have no idea, to be honest."
"Logan.... I was thinking the same thing."
I noticed her face had changed into an almost peaceful one. The pain from the ice cream freezing her body was gone. I decided right then that....Tracey Shay was the most gorgeous girl I had ever seen. Yeah the guys chase after her and I know I heard billions upon billions of times that she was the most wonderful thing to have walked upon the Earth. Now, though, looking at her the way I was, she was breathtakingly beautiful.
This was just wonderful....I'm falling for the girl next door.

TRACEY
"You don't look like your in so much pain anymore."
I turned to see Logan looking at my face, where I once held a rather loathsome expression towards ice cream. I just kept my eyes on his for a few short moments. His eyes...they were so...wonderful. WAIT! What am I saying? NO! Oliver....Oliver is handsome!...but Logan looked so marvelous, so mysterious. After all he was my best friend. If I could still call him that.
"Talking with you Logan, has rather taken my mind off the pain."
His eyes had widenend at my comment, and he rubbed his hands together nervously. He was biting his lower lip where I could see he had a piercing there.
"I'm glad I was able to help in someway."
"No thanks needed, but I can thank you for walking me home."
Both of them looked up and found themselves standing in front of their homes. Their windows were opposite of one another, yet I still could find no reason as to why we had become so distant. I know our friends were totally different people, but had that meant we couldn't be?
"So you really have that Hulk action figure still?"
He looked up at her with a half grin on his face, the moon reflected off his eyes and I felt like I was in the presence of an angel.
"Yeah...I do."
I found myself walking over to where he stood in front of his house. I reached into my coat pocket and pulled out the Spiderman action figure.
"I still have yours too."
I made sure he had seen the action figure in my hand before I turned, placing it back in my pocket, and walked through my front door. Before I closed it behind me, I heard Logan holler..
"It was nice to...umm..talk with you again Tracey and to see that kept Spidey safe for me all these years."
I opened the door all the way to return the thanks as well, but before I could, he had already walked inside his home, and closed the door.
