CHAPTER 1
LOGAN
Ever since Logan could remember, there had always been a Tracey Shay. Looking back on the years of his life, there was never a time he had not known her. Men worshiped the ground she walked on, and girls cursed at her under their breath. Tracey Shay had it all....money, looks, charm, personality, humor! Being born with all the qualities a man could ever hope to find in a woman, she was at the top of the food chain. The whole male spieces where the predators, and Tracey was their prey.
Logan, however, had never seen Tracey the way everyone else did. For she was the girl who had lived next door to him since they were both in diapers. Both of their mothers had met in some labor class training course, where they became the best of friends. Which led to Logan and Tracey being inceprable during their childhood. Playing after school at the park, selling lemonade over the summer, going to the pool, and going over to each others houses was all their younger years associated with. The both of them would take turns sneaking into each other's windows to stay up and read Marvel comic books together. Whoever was the visitor would always storm out in a mad frenzy when the both of them got into a heated discussion as to whether Spiderman was better then the Hulk. Yet, no matter what happened the two of them would always make up, and forget that the argument had ever taken place.
Suddenly, yet surely, the visits and the play dates became fewer and fewer. The difference between Logan and Tracey's friends became apparent. There were no more late at night sneak ins, nor was there even any hellos. Their paths had split off and they no longer viewed each other as friends. High school had changed their lives.
Though, sometimes, Logan would find himself watching Tracey go inside her house and remember the promise they had made long ago. A time so far from now that it didn't even seem like it occured, but it did.
"Logan, will you always be my friend?
"Duh! Not only your friend, but your bestfriend!"
"Promise me!"
"Tracey, I promise to always be your friend."
"Okay, now give me your Spiderman action figure."
"Wait, hold up Tracey. Why? You hate Spiderman?"
"It's like a switchoff, I take something of yours and you take something of mine, so years down the road we still have a piece of each other."
"Where in the world did you get that idea?"
"A book I read at school, would you just do it....please?"
"I mean I will, but what do I get?"
"Logan... you can have my Hulk action figure!"
"Your joking! Really?"
"Yes really, take it!"
"Well cool.... Spiderman is still better."
"Yeah okay whatever Logan."
So Logan did know who Tracey Shay was. He was just filled with different kinds of memories. Not the kind that everyone elses had about her. Tracey Shay was his use to be, but will always be.... bestfriend.

TRACEY
"Hey guys!"
Tracey walked into the ice cream palor and greeted her friends that were sitting in the farest both from the door. In unison they all hollered back
"Hey Tracey!"
"So you guys all order yet?"
"Nope we have been waiting for you!"
"Thanks oliver."
Oliver showed her his crooked smile and scooted over in the booth so she could fit in with everyone. Sitting around her were Tracey's best and closest friends. There was Tiffany, Bekah, Oliver, Landon, Chase, and Marilyn. They were always there for her when she needed someone to talk to. Well they were almost always there. If you made one small insight on something they did, they turned their back on you in a flash, but she was planning on never doing that again.
"So Tracey, you want to catch a movie with me on Friday?"
Since Tracey could remember, the moment Oliver was introduced to her, he followed her around like a lost puppy. He was always there and it creeped her out at times. It just wasn't normal. Yet, he was very attractive.
"Sure, just come by my house whenever."
"Okay, i'll be around at 7."
"Cool, that works."
She gave him a quick smile and turned back to the menu she was holding in her hands. Quietly in a soft whisper he friend Marilyn spoke in her ear...
"Isn't that Logan Trooper?"
Tracey turned her head and saw the black straightend hair and instantly knew it was.
"Yes it is, what about him?"
"He's your neighbor right?"
"Yeah, has been my whole life, why?"
Marilyn gave Logan a quick look over, then continued to say
"He just looks odd, like he doesn't know whether to pull off the punk or prep look."
"Does it really matter Marilyn?"
Marilyn now looked at Tracey. Tracey could tell that Marilyn had sensed the irritation in her voice.
"No, I guess not."
The conversation stopped there, and no one else mentioned Logan Trooper the rest of the night. The discussion had done one thing though, it certainly brought her down a road full of memories. Tracey, just by instinct, reached down into her coat pocket where she felt the plastic foot of her favorite action figure doll....Spiderman
