     "I'm going to meet a dragon?" casey queried.

     "Yes grab my hand i'll take you to her." And before casey could question any more their hands met and casey was blinded by a dazzling flash.  When casey opened his eyes he was startled to find himself in a forested clearing lying flat on his back.  Elva helped him to stand next to her.  "She should be here any minute, i imagine she heard our coming."  Elva nodded towards the darker end of the clearing.  A loud bang and a puff of smaoke emited from within the forest, and casey back away behind elva.  "She is here."  Ekva murmered, bowing low.

     "don't be frightened, i mean you no harm" a soothing, feminine voice echoed in casey's head.  "I am Alana, the dragon assigned to helping you.  Since dragons cannot form words with our mouths, we project our thoughts into the minds of others.  Go ahead, i can hear your thoughts as well."

     "show yourself." casey thought-spoke to alana. from the corner of the clearing she came, standing on her rear two legs. Minus her tail she was barely taller than casey, and she was thinner in the waist then he was.  Her scales dazzled a deep blue, and as she walked she cast rainbows of light all over the clearing reflected off her body.  She strolled up to casey, stopping just out of arms reach.  Her deep blue eyes seemed to pierce his very soul, and he couldn't look away from them no matter how hard he tried.  Casey thought to himself that she was the most amazing and terrifyingly beautiful creature he had ever seen.

     "why thank you," her voice whispered in his mind.  "by now i imagine you can sense my presence in your mind"  casey examined his mind and was surprised to come in contact with something strange, foriegn to him.  Tendrils snaked throughout his thoughts. he shyed away from the contact in fear and tried to push them away.   "do not be afraid, this connection is not going to harm you.  It only means that we are linked for now, and i can help to share any burden of pain you are confronted with.  It is cutomary for a vampire to be linked with another before they are changed, the pain can be anough to kill one if they are alone."  The exact instant he comprehended this casey was blinded by pain in his back and mouth, blokcing out the world.  For almost a minute he writhed in pain, far beyond the capability for concious thought.  He awoke to find Elva and Alana standing over him with worried expressions on their faces.  Or at least on elva's face, he wasn't sure if dragons had facial expressions.  As soon as she noticed his open eyes Elva burst into frantic exclamations.

     "you changed too soon! Alana wasn't prepared yet to help you! my god you could have been killed or worse!"  Before casey could contemplate what worse could possibly be Alana's soothing voice interrupted him.

     "I'm deeply sorry you had to experience that. I wasn't able to get deep enough into your mind to bloke the pain before you blocked me out.  We weren't expecting you to change all at once, and certainly not so soon.  Consider yourself fortunate however.  Some vapire's transformations last hours. Yours lasted merely a few minutes."   As casey attempted to stand he was flicked in the face. he turned to his right and nearly yelled in shock as his black feathery wings unfolded around him.  Casey closed his eyes and wished they would dissappear.  When he opened his eyes he saw both Elva and Alana with very shocked expressions on their faces.  This time there was no mistaking the shock on the dragon's face.  He reached around and felt his back where the wings had been but felt only smooth skin.

     "That was amazing!  It takes most vampires weeks to learn how to hide their wings!" Elva exclaimed.

     "So they'll come back out whenmever i want them to?"  Casey wondered aloud.

     "That's not the only thing.  Come here you need to see this" Elva said in a subdued tone, pulling a small mirror out of her pocket. Nervously Casey stepped towards her.  The face he saw in the mirror was almost unrecognizable.  It was as if an artist had done a painting of him but with something different thrown in.  Casey smiled at his new appearance but quickly closed his mouth in shock.  Slowly he bared his teeth to examine his new gleaming fangs.
