     "This is insane" casey thought to himself.  He was hovering hundreds of feet over new york city listening to a woman claiming to be a vampire.  She had told him of a thousand year war between the vampires and elves.  Only recently had the two sides come to a relative peace, brougth about by a contract.  Signed by the leaders of the two races in blood, this contract held up a shaky peace between the two great races.  However in the last year a new power had began to cause trouble between the powerfulbeings.   Werewolves, usually kept in check by the vampires, were now roaming free throughout the lands, causing trouble for both vampires and elves.  Now the elves were blaming the vampires for not holding them in check, and the vampires blamed the elves for not helping them.  It was decided that a mediator, someone with the powers of both species, would be used to resolve the problem.

     "That is where you come in" the woman, who had introduced herself as elva, ventured forth, breaking casey out of his entranced state.

     "But i don't have all those powers! there must be some mistake!"

      "There is no mistake.  After their sixteenth birthday every vampire undergoes the change.  You are most special though.  You have been blessed by the elves, once you have been changed you will also be gifted with the magical abilities of the elves."

      "lemme get this straight." Casey snapped.  "i am going to be turned into a vampire elf wether i want to or not and i'm going to be sent by myself to kill all the werewolves?"

      "don't be silly!" elva laughed at casey as if she had never heard anything more ridiculous. "Alana is going with you!"

     "Alana?" Casey queried.

      "your dragon of course!"
