“Knock, Knock.” Will said from the door. He let his southern accent slide a little.

“I can't talk to you right now, Will, I have a family emergency to take care of, I 'll call you when I get back.” I said as I started looking for a flight to the Dayton Airport because I knew my car wouldn't get me home.

“Whoa, what happened?” He asked gently as came in and closed the door.

“Nothing, I just need sometime to straighten things out.” I said trying not to let him see me cry.

“This isn't about us, is it?” He asked cautiously.

“NO! THIS ISN'T ABOUT US! THIS IS ABOUT THE FACT THAT MY NEPHEW IS LAYING IN ON THAT TABLE AND I JUST HAD TO CALL MY BROTHER AND TELL HIM THAT THE ONE PERSON HE HAD LEFT WAS DEAD. HOW CAN YOU BE SO SELFISH TO THINK THIS WAS ABOUT US!” I screamed as I pounded my fists on his chest, just screaming and hitting. All the strength in the world couldn't stop the tears from rolling down my cheeks. Will's face went from defensive to worried as he wrapped me in a hug. We stood there as I cried for about five minutes before Julia came in.

“Ah,...Elle?”

“Yeah?” I Sniffled.

“Dr. Davis is done processing Jonathan Castle.” I just looked at her, she said his name like she had no idea who he was, she spent last week showing him the city and the inner workings of the morgue while I worked.

“Thanks, I'll be out in a minute.”

“Okay.” And she was gone. I wiped away my tears and printed out the receipt for my plane ticket.

“Look,”sniff “as soon as I get everything settled back home I'll call you.” I as I picked up my stuff and headed for the door.

“Elle, my office now.” Miles said bluntly as he passed me. I followed him to his office and shut the door behind me.

“What's up?”

“There's an issue with your nephews body.” He stated looking at the file on the desk.

“What do you mean there's an issue?” I eyed him.

“I found evidence of explosives on his shoes and hands, I don't know why and I didn't find any explosives on him, but the fact is we can't release him until we find out what kind of explosives they were and what they're being used for. Look there's still evidence coming in from the accident, I'll be looking for anything that proves he's not mixed up with something of this caliber, but you need to go home and be with your family. I'll call you when his body is released.” Miles said as he sat down behind his desk basically dismissing me. I wondered out to that hallway, there was no way my nephew was involved in explosives and if I wanted answers I was going to need help. I headed back to my office and put my stuff away, then I headed toward the lab.

“Hey, Norm?” I said I flew through the doors. “What do you have on the 17 teen year old boy. Jonathan Castle.

“Well, let's take a look see shall we.” He said spinning around in his chair, grabbing a file off the desk. “Um...looks like there was some dirt in the tread of his shoes, not anything form around here, looks like a mix of clay and mud. Most likely from a river.”

“He lives in Piqua, Ohio, near the great Miami river, that's probably what it's from. Anything else?” I asked leaning over him to see the file.

“Yeah, I've got a sample of DNA, Dr. Davis, pulled from under his fingernails, I'll running it through AFIS. Why are you so interested in this case anyway? You're starting to sound like Jamie?” Norman joked. I faked a laugh then headed back to my office looking for Will on the way there. I spotted him talking with Dr. JD.

“Hey, you.” I said as I walked up to him. “Can I borrow him for a minute?” I asked turning to Dr. JD.

“Sure, I guess.” He said turning away to head down the hallway to Trace.

“What's up?” Will turned to me obviously surprised I was still there.

“I need you to do me a favor.” I said quietly as I pulled him into the empty room off to my right.

“Why are you whispering?” He asked getting close to me.

“Look, I need you to go to the bus accident and look for something...”

“I can't go get something it's evidence...”

“I'm not saying take it, I'm saying point it out, Johnny had a green backpack with him when he was here and it might still be on that bus, It was dark green with two zipper pockets and a Wright State University sticker on it. Just try and find it please,” I begged him.

“Why is this book bag so important?”

“Because Miles says that Johnny had traces of explosives on him and if he actually had them they'd be in that bag, now go.” I shooed him out the door. “Keep me posted.” I whispered after him.

“Keep you posted on what?” I heard someone say behind me. I turned slowly hoping it wasn't Miles and to my relief it was Jamie. “What are you up too?” She asked with a grin.

“Nothing.”

“Oh, really? From what I hear you're starting to act like me. And to see you sneaking a quiet conversation in an empty autopsy room with a handsome detective, kinda proves my theory.” She grinned manically.

“So I'm especially interested in one case what's it to ya?” I asked acting nonchalant.

“What case?”

“If I told you , then you'd try to get answers before me and I can't have that now can I?” I turned and walked away, but before I could make it out of the room she grabbed my arm. I turned and looked at her , her face went from joking to serious.

“Okay, there's something seriously wrong here when you're acting worse then me.” She hissed at me.

“Look I have to do this and I'm not trying to act like the bad girl, I 'm trying to find answers to some serious questions.”

“Who is it?”

“Huh?”

“In on that table, who is it?”

“My nephew, you know the annoying kid that was always in our office last week.” I snapped at her.

“Oh, so that's what this is about...family. Damn, I was hoping it was an old relationship or something a little more interesting” She mocked. You bitch!” I thought to myself.

“A little more interesting?!” I said raising my voice a little. “How can you be so heartless.” I practically screamed.

“Hey, calm down, it was a joke...”

“This is no joke now get out of my sight before I do something stupid.” I said harshly as I threw open the door. She stared at me in amazement and then left. Is this what I've been reduced too? I thought. Defying my boss, lying to co-workers and yelling at friends? I walked back to my office. I could hear my cell phone vibrating on my desk.

“Gage?”

“Hey, Elle I found the bag and they're picking it up now.” Will yelled into the phone trying to be heard over the noise in the background. Oh, thank God, now what is in that bag? I thought.

“Great, well I think I'm going to go home, remember keep me posted.”

“Gotcha.” And he hung up. I picked up my laptop and coat and headed out the door, but Norman caught me in the hallway.

“Hey, Elle, I've got a hit on that DNA sample.” interesting I thought.

“What ya got?” I asked as I followed him into the lab.

“Well there were a few traces of different DNA but that was probably from the accident, but one sample was pretty dominate and it belongs to a Cassandra Jane Perkins. So our boy's partner in crime is...”

“His mother.” I stated
