The life of a wild power, my story (pt.4)
|
“That’s so sad.” Noel gasped
“My family was a noble honorable family, but we came here and we scraped for everything we have. We had to learn the meaning of hard work.” Seth continued.
“Look, uh, Seth. Let’s let Charisma have a minute to think about what this little stunt has taught her about taking that necklace off.” Mr. Sheldon interrupted.
Seth and my parents went downstairs and I transformed back into human form and put the gold necklace with a teardrop pendant back around my neck. I was still a little woozy as I wobbled down the stairs to the living room. My dad was in his chair in the corner. I could tell he was concerned but still pissed off that I took the necklace off. Seth was talking to my dad about the shadow world, discussing what it looked like and my mom was apparently in the kitchen. So I headed that way.
“Where do you think you’re going?” My dad said firmly.
“To the kitchen to help mom.”
“She’s fine. Come in here we need to talk.”
“I better go then I need to finish working on that tractor.” Seth said as he stood up.
“Seth, I want you to stay. I need you to do something for me.”
“Mr. Sheldon, I really need to finish the tractor so …”
“That can wait till tomorrow. Tonight, if it’s okay with you, I want you to take Charisma to her brother’s house in the shadow world; I want you to stay with her, please.” Dad said.
“I’m going back to the shadow world?!” I said
“Only because you seem to need to and you haven’t eaten a decent meal in months.” My dad stated. “I mean blood meal.” He corrected himself as my mom’s head appeared in the doorway from the kitchen.
“Mr. Sheldon, I don’t know my way around the shadow world.”
“Charisma does, I just need you to go to protect her.”
“Uh…”
“Please Seth? I really need this night.” I begged.
“Fine.”
“Yes! Come on we better go now.” I said pulling him upstairs. I ran into my room pulling Seth behind me and I pulled my closet door open and stared at the mirror hanging on the door and smiled a mischievous smile.
“How do we get to the shadow world?” Seth asked knowing the answer, but not wanting to believe it.
“Through there.” I grinned.
“I was afraid of that.”
“Let’s go. Ready?”
“I guess.”
“Light to dark, grant access to a broken heart.” She spoke slowly. The mirror looked like liquid in a frame; she slowly opened her eyes and stepped forward into the unknown that waited on the other side.
