What it all comes down to |Chapter 7|

Sorry about the short delay! I'm taking Child development 2 this year and half of my actual school day is spent at an elementary school... I was lucky enough out of some of my friends to get a kindergarten class! But... Those kids are SOO energetic! By the time I get home, I'm exhausted and I barely feel like writing. That means that during the week, I'll have to try REALLY hard to post... And I will. Anyway, READ, Vote, Comment & Subscribe... I'm about to watch a movie or something... And If I'm up to it... I'll post tomorrow morning too!

After we ate French bread pizza—which was delicious, by the way—we decided to be on our way. We didn’t end up leaving my house until 8:30 pm because we took out time eating.

Courtney was overly excited for me to be joining her at one of the best parties of the year, I wasn’t really in a party mood like I wanted to be but I was really good at pretending.

The half hour drive really got me to thinking about the new guy—Kevin. I was thinking about how much he could help me. Maybe by hanging out with him, I’d be less likely to want to have sex with—“I love this song!” Courtney exclaimed while cutting into my thoughts. The loud music filled my car and drowned out my thoughts.

We pulled up to the huge house five minutes after Courtney’s outburst so the song was just going off.

I could hear the music coming from the inside of the house, but it was muffled by the closed door. There were about twenty or thirty people hanging around outside, but most were just getting out of their cars and on their way in.

“Hey Shayla!” I turned when I heard my name. It was my friend Jazmin.

“Hey Jazzy,” I said while smiling. “Hold on a minute.” I rolled up my windows and then got out of the car.

“Courtney! You’re here too? I should’ve known!”

Courtney laughed. “I never miss a party Jazz.”

I locked the door when we started walking away. I hit the button twice just to make sure it was locked and then we went inside. A wave of smoke hit me in the face as soon as I opened the door and the music was louder obviously. A few people said Hi to me, and some didn’t even notice that I was there because they were too busy smoking, drinking, making out, arguing, or dancing.

I felt a hand go over my shoulder and I froze. “Hey pretty lady,”

I looked up to see Kevin. Something inside me was actually happy to see him. “Hey yourself.” I replied while smiling.

He raised his eyebrows. “What? Nothing rude to say?”

I nodded my head. “I always have something rude to say… I’m choosing to be nice, would you prefer I go back to being a bitch to you? That can be arranged.”

“Whoa… no I’m cool with the way things are.” He smiled down at me and I laughed.

After removing his hand from over my shoulder, I began walking to the kitchen—of coarse he was following me.

I grabbed a grape soda from the cooler and then I began looking for the steps. “Follow me.”

He did.

I found the first room available and when he entered, I shut the door.

“Is this your room or something?” He asked while looking around.

“No, this is my friend Jazmin’s room.”

“Oh…”

I looked around and saw why he had asked. There were pictures of me, Jazmin and Courtney together in our Cheerleading uniforms last year. We had pictures in our Pajamas from when we’d have huge sleepovers. There were pictures of us in bikinis from the beach and the pool… it could pass for my room, the only difference was that my room was over dramatic and as big as two rooms in this house put together.

I sat on the bed and opened my soda, taking a small sip and looking at him as he continued to admire the pictures of me and my friends.

He was even cute when the lighting was dim. There was a lamp on in the far corner of the room so it wasn’t too bright in here.

“Come sit with me.”

He turned to look at me, but he didn’t think twice about doing what I’d asked.

“You’re a little too friendly today… are you okay?” He asked warily.

I smiled. “Actually…” I sat my soda on the dresser by the bed. “I feel great.”

I kissed him on the lips—those soft lips—and he wasted no time kissing me back. For the first time in weeks I wasn’t thinking about anything but what I was doing at the moment. He ran his fingers through my hair and I shifted my weight so that I was sitting on his lap.

He was making me feel really good; in a sexual way and a mental way. Now that I knew he was the antidote to my newfound problems… I knew I had to keep him around.

I pulled back from kissing him and smiled. “You’re a good kisser… next to chocolate and diamonds, that’s a girl’s best friend.”

“I’ll keep that in mind.” He said, obviously dazed.

“C’mon… come dance with me.”

When we were coming down the stairs, Chris was coming up. I was a little shocked but I played it off well. “Hi.” I said trying to get by him.

“What the hell were you doing upstairs with him?” Chris asked, obviously mad.

I was confused. “What?”

“You heard me!”

I wanted to laugh but I wasn’t sure it was the correct response. Chris had never cared who I spent my time with before. I decided I wouldn’t even say anything to him about it.

“Excuse me… we need to get by.” I said with slight attitude.

“Sure.”

I walked down first, but I shouldn’t have. Chris grabbed Kevin’s neck and through him down the last five steps.

“Chris what the hell are you doing?!” I asked trying to help him up.

Kevin got up quickly because the fall wasn’t that bad and by this time Chris was down the steps. Kevin punched Chris in the lip and the noise in the room silenced immediately. It took about ten seconds for the chanting to begin. “Fight, fight, fight, fight, fight…!”

Chris fell to the floor and while he was down he picked up a glass bottle. When he got up and hit Kevin across the face with it.

“Stop it!”

“Hell no, shayla!” a guy named Robert said while holding up his video camera. “This is entertainment!”

The room started spinning as a few more punches were thrown. I couldn’t take it anymore, I hit the ground—pretty hard I’m sure—but at the moment that didn’t matter. I had already blacked out anyway.
