Sorry Too Late

It was the end of Winter break for Sanville Middle School(SMS) students. Ashley climbed up the school bus stairs. "Hey, Tessa!" Ashley greeted her best friend. "Hi Ash!" Tess said. Ashley sat right in front of Tessa. "So,Ash,do you still have that huge crush on Will?" Tessa whispered softly. Ashley blushed. "Of course. He so doesnt like me though." "You dont know that."Tess told Ashley. Tessa and Ashley`s third best friend got on the bus. "Hey Ash. Hi Tess."Evina called out. She walked towards Tessa`s seat and sat down. "Hey Evi." Tess and Ashley said.

It was almost the end of the route. There were only four stops left. Will stepped onto the bus. "See look yall. He probaly wont even look at me." Ashley whispered. Will walked by. He looked at the group of girls then smiled and winked. "Omigosh!" Evi said. "Did he?" Tess said. "Was that to...me?"Ashley asked. "Yeah!"Tess and Evi said.

As the day went by Ashley thought about how Will had smiled and winked at her. "That probaly wasnt to me. It was probaly to Evi or Tess." Ashley thought. It was time to go to the bus again, to go home. Ashley thought that she would test Will. This time she would sit across from Tess and Evi. Nikky had sat in front of Ashley. "Hey Nikky. Whats up?" Ash asked."Nothing."Nikky said. "Oh. Are you okay?" Ask asked. "Well...do you think I am a geek?" Nikky asked. "Of course not! Why? Who called you that?" Ashley asked. "Well, you know those 'popular' girls? Renae and Danielle. They were picking on me for getting a one-hundred, in english, when everyone else got sixties and seventies."Nikky told Ashley. "Oh I am sorry." Ashley said.

"Here he comes." Tess whispered to Ashley off of the edge of her seat. "Okay."Ashley whispered back. She looked up to see Will holding the hand of someone behind him. It was Renae. When they had came to the emergancy exit where Ashley, Tessa, Nikky, and Evi sat, Renae and Danielle laughed at Nikky. Will had said hey to Ashley but only Ash and Danielle heard him. Ashley blushed. Danielle just stared at Ashley. "Take a picture, it will last longer."Ashley insulted. "Uh!" Danielle gasped. Tess was amazed, "Ashley! You have never stuck up for yourself like that before!" Ashley turned around everyone. in the back of the bus was staring at her. "Yeah, but I wish I wouldnt have." Ash said.

"Well, Ash I cant help you now." Tess said. "Why not?" Ashley asked. "Number 1 because you started this with the 'think theyre popular' girls." Tess said. "Okay, whats number 2?" Ashley asked. "Number 2 because I have to get off the bus now." said Tess. "'Bye Tess."Ashley said. "'Bye Tessa!"said Evi. "Goodbye Tessi." said Nikky. "'Bye yall" Tessa said when she reached the bottom of the school bus stairs.

Danielle and Renae`s stop was next. Ashley whispered softly, "'Bye Rob. 'Bye Dan." Nikky and Evi snickered. "Ashey, if you got something to say to us." Renae started. "Say it to our face."Danielle interrupted. "Oh, okay. Well, yall need some breath mints. Woooo!"Ashley insulted. "Hello? Operator? Did she just..." Renae asked. Danielle answered, "Yeah! I think she did!" "Come on Dani. We shall not be treated like this."Renae said. They finally got off the bus.

It was Ashley`s turn to get off the bus. Her puppy was waiting for her at the bus stop. Her smart, little puppy and Ashley walked to her house. Will moved up to the emergancy exit seat where Ashley had sat. "Evina, Nikky, do yall think Ashley likes me? I mean Im going out with Renae but I like Ashley too."Will said."Well,um, she might."Evi said. Will said, "Does she? Or does she not?" "We cant tell you that."Nikky said. "Oh." Will said. Everyone got off the bus at their usual stops.

No matter what Tessa, Evi, or Nikky said Ashley still didnt think Will liked her. Even when Evi and Nikky told Askley about Will moving to her seat, she still didnt believe them. "We are telling the truth."they said. "Okay. Whatever."Ashley would always say. It was finally Friday. Ashley got on the bus that morning and she sat beside Tessa. "Hey Ash! Why are you sitting in my seat." Evi said. "Oh sorry."Ashley apologized. "You know I was kidding. Right?"Evi said. "Oh okay.''Ashley said. The bus was at Will`s stop. A strange, new kid got on the bus. "Who is that?" Evi asked. "Oh that is Michael, Will`s friend, I think." Tessa answered. "Why is he riding our bus?" Ashley asked. "I dont know, why dont you ask him?" Evi told Ashley. "Why?" Ashley looked in front of her. "Hey...."Michael said. "Ashley!" Will whispered. "Hey Ashley." Michael said. "Hey...Michael?"Ashley said. "Yeah thats right."Michael said. "So why are you riding our bus?"Evina asked. "Because I stayed at my aunt`s house last night and my bus doesnt come this way so I had to ride this bus."Michael said."Oh thats reasonable."Nikky said from behind Ashley.

They were at school now. Ashley, Evi, Tessa, and Nikky went to all their classes, then met at lunch. They all sat at the same table. Ashley asked, "So...what do you want to talk about?" "It doesnt matter really."Tessa and Evi said. "Well, what are yall doing this weekend?" Nikky asked. "I am spending the night at my cousin`s house." Evi groaned, "Last time they put gel stuff on my face because I fell asleep first." Everyone laughed. "I am going to my niece`s birthday party on saturday."Tessa said, "You know my sister`s child, Michelle?" "Yeah. She`s only four, right?" Ashley asked. "No she is five now. Her birthday was yesterday." Tessa said. "Oh." Ashley thought. "Askley? What are you doing this weekend?"Everyone asked. "I have to babysit for my cousin and his friend that is almost my age! My cousin is 11 but his friend is 13! What is up with that?"Ashley asked. "I dont know." Nikky said, "I am going to the movies..." "Thats not bad."Ashley said. "With...my mom!" Nikky groaned. "Omigosh. That is bad."Evi said sarcastically. "What movie?"Tessa asked. "Something with Brad Pitt in it." Nikky answered. "I would rather do that then go to my cousin`s house."Evi said. Nikky was surprised,"No you wouldnt. She cries at every scene. Happy ones. Sad ones. Even the scenes where no one talk?" "Okay never mind." Evi said.

Once school was over that day, everyone was happy to go home that weekend. It is like that every Friday at Sanville Middle School. Everyone was in a hurry to get on the bus. Ashley was the first on the bus. "Hey Ms.Lynn!"Ashley said to the bus driver. "Oh hey,honey." the busdriver said in a southern drawl. Evi, Nikky, and Tessa got on the bus. "Hey Nikky, do you want to sit beside me today?" Ashley asked. "Sure." Nikky said. Ashley and Nikky sat beside eachother. Evina and Tessa sat beside eachother. Renae and Danielle were not on the bus so Will and Michael sat in front of Nikky and Ashley. "Hey Ash."Will and Michael greeted Ashley. "Hey boys?"Ashley said. "Hold on Ashley."Will said. Michael and Will turned around in their seat and slid down. "You know you cant have her, Mike."Will said. "Why not?"Michael asked. "Because you are in sixth grade and she is in seventh grade. She needs a man in eighth grade not a wimp in sixth."Will said. Michael told Will, "She is actually in eighth grade because she is fourteen. And I am in seventh." "Oh well..."Will said. "'Bye yall." Ashley waved. Ashley got off the bus. "Oh great Will. I didnt get to say goodbye to her before the weekend." Michael said. "Oh well...I didnt either." Will said. "But you got a girlfriend that you 'deeply care for!'"Michael repeated. "Dont use her against me. Shes cute and she asked me out. Whats a guy to do?"Will asked. "You turn her down because you like another girl." Michael said. Will and Michael got off the bus.

Ashley`s mom drove her to her cousins house. "Hey Aunt Janine!"Ashley greeted her aunt. "Hey sweet heart. Oh Brad and his friend David are at basketball practice. They will be here soon. Can you just wait here for them while me and your mother go to the movies?" Janine asked. "Oh sure. What are yall seeing."Ashley had to ask. "Something with Brad Pitt in it."Ashley`s mom answered. Ashley laughed in her mind. "Oh..okay. 'Bye yall." About five minutes later, Brad and David came in the door. "Hey Ash!" Brad said. "Hey Brad."Ash greeted,"Who is your friend???" She asked although she knew it was David. Ashley thought he was hot. "Oh this is David. Ashley. David. David. Ashley."Brad introduced them. "Hi."David said. "Hey" Ashley said. Brad took David in the other room. "Do you like...my cousin?"Brad asked. "Yeah. She is so beautiful."David said. "You know I can hear yall in here!"Ashley yelled. David and Brad laughed. "Hold on."Brad told David. Brad went in the other room. He whispered softly, "Do you like my friend, David?" "Yeah. He is really hot." Ashley said. Brad yelled, "Come here David!" David walked into the room. "Hey David, I got you your first girlfriend."Brad told David. David said, "You told me you wouldnt tell anyone that I have never had a girlfriend." "Oops sorry. Well, you have one now."Brad said. "Really? You are my girlfriend now? Awesome!!!" David said. "Dude, dont ruin it." Brad said. "I dint get any say in this." Ashley said. "Well, you like him dont you?"Brad asked. "Yeah I guess. But.."Ashley said. "Okay then.Give him a chance.Come on."Brad said. "Okay.When and where?"Ashley asked. "What are you talking about?"The immature boys asked. "Not like that! The date."Ashley said. "Tomorrow(Saturday) at 7pm.At the movies."Brad said. "I am free." Ashley said. "Um let me check...I am free."David said. One of Ashley`s eyebrows raised as she was looking at David.

It was Saturday and Ashley called Tessa and Evi on three-way. "Hey."said Ashley. "Hi."said Tessa. "Hello."said Evina. "I am going on a date tonight, at seven."Ash told Evi and Tessa. "With Prince William?"Tessa asked jokedly. "With Michael?"Evi asked. "No,with my cousin`s best friend, David."Ashley said. "You mean that thirteen year old you were talking about at lunch yesterday?"Evina and Tess asked. "Yeah. It turns out he is really hot. He has blonde hair and green eyes."Ashley described David. "My favorite!" Tessa said. "Mine too!" Ashley said. "Well I have to go to a movie with my mom now. 'Bye."Evi said. "'Bye Evina!"Tessa and Ashley said. "What time is it?"Ashley asked quickly. "6:49 Why?" Tessa asked. "The date. I got to go.'Bye"Ashley said. The girls hung up.

Ashley made to the movies on time. They ended up watching that movie with Brad Pitt in it. "The movie was pretty good."David said at Ashley`s doorstep. "Yeah."Ashley said biting her lip. She was looking at the ground. "So..."David said. Ashley leaned forward and kissed him. After a few minutes, David said, "I did not exspect that." Ashley ran inside. It turns out that David only live a few blocks down her street. He walked home. David called Ashley the next day. He had got her number from Brad after Ashley had left. They deciced to go out again on Friday.

On Monday, Ashley got on the bus and sat across form Tessa. Ashley told Tessa about the date. Will had got on the bus and actually sat beside Ashley. "Hey Ash."he said. "Hey Will. Um..."Ashley said. Will interrupted,"Hold that thought. I broke up with Renae." "Thats great but,"Ashley said. "So, will you go out with me?" Renae gasped,"You dumped me for her?" "Yeah I did. Because Ashley is so beautiful, funny, nice, and worth dumping you for." Will announced, "So. Will you Ashley?" "I am sorry Will, but I got a boyfriend. So no."Ashley said. "That sucks. Really bad." Someone said from the back of the bus. Ashley told Will, "Oh and Will," Yes Ashley?" Will said. "Get out of my seat!"
