Prologue: The Perfect World

Today was perfect. The sun was shining, there was only a slightest cool breeze. Clouds lazily floated against the light blue sky. The little town peaceful against the rolling green hills. Calm permeated the air. Yes, today was definitely perfect. But to Sarah, everyday was perfect. There had never been a day in her life, where she had complained about the weather. It of course wasn't always sunny, or warm. It rained and snowed as well. But she never complained. She liked the rain and snow just as much as the warmth of the sun. Because to Sarah, everyday was perfect. She didn't know why, and neither did anyone else in the little town. No one ever thought to question it, because it was all they had ever known. In Lilith, everything was perfect. Because in Lilith there was no pain. No one knew what suffering, hunger, loneliness, or depression was. Everyday they went on with their happy lives. The only time anyone left, was when the Angels came to get them. The Angels made everyone happy, too. They always smiled and laughed, just like everyone else in the town. No one was sad when they took them away. They laughed with the Angels, just  happy to see them. But everyone was happy to see everyone else. Because thats how it had always been.

Today wasn't just perfect, it was special. Today was Nathan's birthday. Nathan was Sarah's best friend, and she had made something very special. Holding it up to the sun, she watched as it glittered and shone. He would like it, because he liked things that shined. It was perfect for him. Slowly getting to her feet she looked around once more at the little town. Smiling she walked back to her house, to get ready for Nathan's birthday party. Yes, she quietly thought. Today was definitely perfect.
