ashley got up the next morning and fixed her hair, put on makeup, and a cute outfit. she tried to tell herself that she was just doing this so she could make a better impression on people at her new school, but she knew she was doing this for spencers benefit. she wanted to look nice for him.

she walked to school and it was a beautiful day.

she got to her first class and looked around. No Spencer. ashley tried not to let it bother her.  

"come on! its not like you like him or anything. you dont even know him!" she thought to herself.  she tried to pay attention to the teacher, but her mind kept wandering to what spencer might be doing. 

then the door burst open and there stood a disheveled Spencer. his shirt was wrinkled and his hair stood up. it looked like he had slept in his clothes and had just woken up about 10 min earlier.  

"mmm" thought ashley. "he looks good like that"

ashley must have been grinning from ear to ear cause when spencer looked at her, he seemed surprised but smiled back happily in return.

he took his seat beside her and when he walked past, ashley noticed that even though he might have just woke up, he smelled really good.

she could feel him looking at her and she turned to look back at him. he was smiling and he mouthed the words "good morning" to her.

"hi" she whispered back wondering why she felt nervous.

"I'm glad to see you" he whispered to her

she was about to say something back when the teacher said "If you two have more interesting things to talk about, then I will make the whole class wait if you like"

ashley ducked her head and said "No Ma'am. Sorry"

but spencer said "Truly Miss Reynolds, i was just asking Ashley what I had missed. I am sorry if I was being rude, but you know i hate to miss even a moment of your presence. I just wanted to be caught up on what you were talking about so i could follow you completely"  he smiled his award winning smile and you could see the teachers heart melt.

"Very well then Spencer. We were just discussing Queen Mary. Please pay attention" she said with a smile.

and true enough, when ashley looked over at him it looked as if Spencer only wanted to be in Miss Reynolds History class. before she looked away though, Spencer grinned and winked at her and ashleys heart missed a beat. she could feel herself blush up to the roots of her hair. 

the rest of the day went fine. at lunch she sat with the girls again but this time they just gossiped about people she didnt know adn talked about the party that night.

Katie offered to pick Ashley up at 8 and take her to the party.

at the end of school ashley got ready to go home. she was standing at her locker and she felt a tap on her shoulder. hoping it was somehow spencer she turned around with a smile. it wasnt.

it was some jock dude.

"Hi I'm Rick Thomas" he said that as if the name should mean everything.

ashley stared at him and thought   rick thomas...rick thomas...oh, hes the captain of the football team and the one throwing the party

she said "Hi I'm Ashley"

he said "i know. you're new. you coming to my party tonight?"

"yah i guess" she said not too enthused

"well be sure u do. its gonna be great. and maybe " he got closer " we could get to know eachother better" he was really close to her face smiling. 

she backed away a bit and said "uh huh..yah...maybe"    but dont get your hopes up   she thought

 he walked away and she put her stuff in her locker. she walked towards the doors and looked out. "oh great. its raining again.  what is it? monsoon season?"

"Hey. You need a ride?" said a voice.

she turned around and htere he was. still ruffled as ever but with a killer smile. Spencer.

"uh...I don't know. i dont want to be troublesom" she said

he grinned some more and said "no trouble at all. you wait here and i'll drive up to the doors and pick u up"

"ok" she said with a little grin

"wait here now" he said. and then ran into the pooring rain
