 “What do we got here?!” A voiced asked sarcastically.

      Jess and Sam looked over to see Sam’s ex-best friend, and head cheerlead, Sara standing in front of there booth. Her hand on her hip, blonde hair cascading over her shoulders, and glaring at them. In that one look, Sam understood that she was an outsider now. She knew Chris had said something to his friends about them, and they in turn told everyone else. That one look said so much to her it made her shrink back, unsure if she wanted to stand her ground with Jess, or if she just wanted to walk away.

“Well obviously we’re on a date. Now I know that you just hop in bed with every guy, but sometimes people DO go out on DATES.” Jess said to Sara sarcastically.

“Well Duh! I can see that! Just wondering why not one but TWO freaks are here. Don’t you kind of people have some kind of gathering you can go to? It really sucks that normal people have to look at you, and even talk to you!” Sara said in return. Sounding like she actually thought that Jess had some kind of emo disease he could pass onto other people.

    Jess was about to come back with a reply but just then the door jingled, letting them know someone walked into the café and they all looked toward the door and saw Chris walk in, and toward.

    He walked up to the table and wrapped his arm around Sara’s waist, and kissed her on the cheek.

     “Hey babe what you doin over here, thought you were gonna get us a booth.” Chris said to Sara.

“Hey sweetie. I was just…checkin in on Sam.” She replied. Gesturing toward Jess and Sam.

  Chris looked over at Jess and Sam, and smile.
 “Hey Sam. Jess…nice surprise seein you guys here.” Chris said.

  Sara gave Chris a questioningly look, like he was stupid.

Jess Stared at Chris, trying to figure out what his game was. Kinda shocked that Chris didn’t say anything…obnoxious.

And Sam…Sam was trying to read Chris’ eyes, searching for something that told her he was lying. But she found nothing…just blank emptiness….

  “Well, me and Sara are gonna go eat, so we can make it to the movies in time. Catch ya guys later.” Chris said then led Sara away from Sam and Jess’ table.

   Jess just stared after them baffled. Then he shook himself out of his daze, and concentrated back on Sam.

    “Hey…you want to go?” Jess asked her

“Yeah…let’s go.” Sam replied getting up.

“You wait in the car while I pay the bill.”

 Sam just said sure and walked out the café, once outside she took a deep breath, that was probably the most uncomfortable she had ever been in her whole life.

    She went to Jess’ car and leaned against the hood staring at her feet, while she played with her lip ring. Slowly fading into a daze…letting her thoughts consume her.

   “You know you are starting to look like those emo freaks, especially with that lip ring.” A voice said to her, jerking her out of her thoughts, and scaring her half to death.

    “Oh my gosh! Damn…” Sam said clutching her hand over her chest.

  “I’m starting to like scaring you. It makes for face flush that nice shade of pink…”

  Sam looked at the person with frustrated glance.

 “Chris…What you doing?”

“Mmm… not much, just admiring you. Can’t I do that?”

“Aren’t you here with Sara?!”

“But she just so easy. I want a challenge.”

 “I’m not your mount Everest, Chris. You can’t just conquer me. And I’m with Jess!”

 “You're with him….for now…” Chris said turning and walking back into the café.
