It was Saturday, and I figured Chris wouldn’t be harassing us anytime soon, so I figured I might as well take this chance to take Sam out for a real date.
I picked up my cell phone and dialed Sam’s cell number, which she finally gave me last night.
“Hello?” I heard he answer groggily
“Please tell me you weren’t sleeping.”
“Mmmf…Morning Jess.”
“You do know it’s 2 in the afternoon.”
“Mmm…so?”
“You sleep too much.”
“You don’t sleep enough, and you stay up later than me.”
“I’m used to it. So! How would YOU like to go to the beach with me?”
“Really?! But…”
“But what?” I asked bewildered.
“Aren’t you allergic to the sun or something.”
“Was that supposed to be an EMO joke or something? Cause it really sucked!”
I heard her laughing on the other line, and couldn’t help but smile myself.
“OK! Ok...so I’m bad with jokes. But Yes. I want to go to the beach.”
“Good! I’ll be by your house in like…10 minutes.”
“K, see ya then.”
Then we hung up.
I drove to her house, and she quickly jumped in the car.
“Do you have everything you need?” I asked her while I parked the car.
“I think so, let me check.” She pulled out a big blue…I guess beach bag and started going threw it.
“What the hell is that?!” I said as she started going threw it.
“What’s what?” She asked innocently.
“That giant suitcase you’re looking threw.”
“It’s a beach bag.”
“Ok…but all you need is a towel, and some sun screen. So what’s with the big bag?”
“There’s towel, sun screen, shorts, tank top, sweater, sun glasses, sneakers, socks, my purse, cell phone, wallet, and a small blanket.”
“You….never mind…I won’t say anything lets just get to it, it’s already 3pm.”
We headed straight to the beach, and swam around for a while; occasionally she would go under water, and I would think she was going to drown or something.
She’s only 5’4” so it’s quite easy for a wave to splash over her.
We got out of the water around 6pm, dried off and went for a walk on the board walk, goofing off.
We passed a tattoo/piercing shop and Sam’s face lit up. She started dragging me to it.
“Come on Jess! This will be fun!”
“I already have three peircing's…”
“Not you! ME!!”
“You want to get a piercing?”
“Yeah….”
We walked into the tattoo to parlor, and I watched Sam get so excited looking around the place.
“Jess! What’s going on?!” A voice from my right called, I looked over and smiled.
“Rich!” I said to a friend on mine, and gave him a half hug.
“You came for a tattoo are a piercing?” Rich asked.
“None, my girlfriend sad she wanted to get something piercing.”
“Really? Then I’ll give her a discount!” Rich said with a big grin.
Sam came walking back over toward me very excited.
“Jess!!! Can I get lip pierced!?” Sam Asked eagerly.
“If you’re sure you want a hole in your lip.”
“YUP!!!” She said with a huge smile.
“Rich…She wants a lip ring.” I said to my friend.
“OK then! Would you like a pink, blue, or black ring little lady?”
“Hmm...Blue!”
Rich took her behind a curtain and pierced her lip.
She came out with a small blue ring on the right side of her lip.
“Does it look ok?” She asked me.
“Really good!” I said with a smile.
And she smiled back at me.
On our way I noticed she kept looking at it, and touching it with her tongue. Whenever she did that I would smile, and shake my head.
