"You don't have to go if you don't want to," Lex's father told his daughter.

She was painfully preparing for a night with her friends. Ever since yesterday when Grant left she hadn't been exactly up to a lot.

"Yea I know... But I'm gonna go," she replied, "I mean, it's pretty ridiculous that I'm getting so upset over just one weekend away from one guy... idk. I'm going though."

"Well I can't argue with you on that one," she said as he ruffled her hair.

She glared up at him.

"I'm just kidding. Talk to me, kid. He's left for the weekend tons of times before, why is all of a sudden bothering you now?" he asked curiously.

"I'm not sure," she answered with a thoughtful frown, "It's jut that, for some reason, it feels like it's going to be a lot longer than jsut the weekend.... but that's stupid... i just..... o i dont know."

Her father frowned as he looked at his daughter. She looked as beautiful as ever all made up as she was, but it was all ruined by the distressed expression on her face. He took her into his arms and gave her the best bear hug he could manage.

She giggled and spuirmed out of his grasp, "Daddy! I gotta go now!" She smiled up at him and thanked him for talking to her.

"What?" he asked, "You don't need to thank me for that! I'm always here for you, ok?"

"K. Love you, bye!" she yelled as she ran out the front door to her best friend's blue Ford.

"Heya Lex!" yelled Chris as he grabbed her shoulders from behind.

She screamed and laughed as she pulled away from him, "You're so stupid! Go fuck your girlfriend!"

"That'll be later!" piped up Carrie from the driver's seet.

"Oh yea," added Chris, "and we'll tape the whole thing for your personal pleasure." He winked and Lex and gave a thumbs up sign.

She shoved him and said, "You're a pig!"

"So you're not related to any of these people?" asked Grant.

Lindsey replied with a mouthful of ice cream, "Nope. I just know Steph from school, and she told me to come and ease her boredom."

"Ahhh....." he replied, "Can I interest you in a bottle of Coke? I'm thirsty, and I'm going in there anyway....."

"I wouldn't mind it," Lindsey replied with a smile.

He returned her smile, "I'll be right back."

"So what movie are we even gonna see?" asked Lex.

"I have no clue," replied Chris, "Carrie? Any suggestions?"

"I don't know.... something scary," she said with a devilish grin.

"Wow hold on right there," said Lex, "You guys invited me to come... You aren't gonna be all up on each other while I get to sit there and watch, ok?"

"Do we have to?" asked Chris

"Yes." Lex said blutly.

Chris put his face right next to hers and did his best attempt at a puppy dog frown.

Lex raised her eyebrows and laughed a little, "You look like you just ate something sour."

Carrie bursted into giggles as she turned to look at Chris.

Grant walked back into the small empty tv room and handed a bottle of Coke to Lindsey.

"Thank you very much," she said with a smile.

"Any time."

She turned toward him. "So what are they doing out there?"

"They were playing some trivia game or something i think," he said carefully.

She leaned in just a little, "Were they anywhere near the end of the game?"

"Uh, I, uh, no.... they were just starting a new one."

Lindsey leaned forward, and kissed Grant once on the lips, then looked up into his eyes.

"Good," she said, and smiled devilishly.
