The Trip [7]

“Are we almost in San Francisco?” Sam asked from the backseat, where carter was laying his head on her lap and sleeping.

“About another ten minutes until we’re in the city. Sam, can I ask you a question?” I asked.

“Sure.” She said, stroking Carter’s head like he was an animal.

“How did you get tickets to all of the concerts?” I asked.

“I have connections.” She said mysteriously.

“Our uncle manages the band and sent us five tickets and backstage passes for each of the concerts.” Reid said.

“Must be nice. Last thing a family member sent me was a sweater from my grandma.” I said.

“It is totally awesome. I love My Chemical Romance. Gerard is so cute!” Sam said from the backseat. Carter woke up at that and stared at her. “Not as cute as you though.” She said and gave him a peck on the lips, all while Reid was glaring through the rear-view at them. I tightened the grip on his hand as if telling him to be nice.

“I feel so alone. I am the only one who doesn’t have anyone on this trip.” Ashlyn said with self-pity.

“You want someone? I think there is a hobo back there if you want him.” I said to her.

“Not funny Preston.” She retorted. I rolled my eyes and loosened the grip on Reid’s hand.

“Sam, look at what is in front of us.” Reid said and she shifted to where she could see.

“Oh, my god. It’s the Golden Gate bridge. I wanted to live on it when I was six. It would’ve been awesome. We should find a motel to stay in so we can drop our stuff off and go sight-seeing.” Sam said.

“No, I am not staying in another motel. Find a Ritz or something. I will use daddy’s credit card to get us the penthouse suite. I need a massage!” Ashlyn complained from the backseat.

“Okay, little miss heiress. I’ll find a hotel.” Reid said. Ashlyn’s dad was a millionaire, if you haven’t guessed already. He developed some computer software for the government and the a bunch of computer stuff for the internet, so he made huge amounts of money. Believe it or not, it didn’t take too long to find a five star hotel ‘up to Ashlyn’s standards’, in fact there are tons of hotels. We pulled into one of them and got our bags out of the car. We walked inside and saw an arrangement of very expensive tile and furniture. Ashlyn took the lead and walked up to a lady behind a huge desk.

“Welcome to the Marriott Hotel, how may I help you today?” The lady, named Susan, asked.

“I will take the best suite you have with three full sized beds and a massage for me.” Ashlyn said.

“The penthouse is available, would you like that Suite, ma’am?” Susan asked her.

“Yes please.” Ashlyn said and handed Susan a credit card. “And we’ll be staying three nights at the most so ring that up.”

“Enjoy your stay.” Susan said as she handed Ashlyn the key card. We walked over to the elevator and rode up to the penthouse suite. It was huge!

“Carter and Sam in that room, Preston and Reid in that room, and I get the master. Order anything you want from room service and Carter, try to resist the porno selection on the TV. I am going for my massage.” Ashlyn said as she put her bags in her room and walked out of the door.

“Why did she only tell me not to order a porn, what about Reid?” carter asked.

“She obviously knows you.” I said as I opened the door to my room. I walked inside and it had a queen size bed, a huge closet, a bathroom with a huge bathtub, and the best view someone can possibly have.

“I wanna go sight-seeing, you guys wanna go?” Sam asked.

“I’ll go.” Carter volunteered.

“No, I think I’ll stay here and take a bubble bath and order something expensive from room service. Who would’ve thought bringing Ash on this trip would pay off.” I said.

“Reid?” Sam questioned.

“Uh, nah. I’m kinda tired so I am going to take a nap--and order something good to eat.” He said and flopped down on the bed.

“Okay, lets go Carter.” Sam said and led Carter out of the suite. I walked over to Reid and sat on him with a leg on each side of him.

“Did you stay here just to be alone with me?” I asked as I leaned down and kissed his neck.

“Maybe. Did I make the right choice, or should I have followed my sister and Carter around?” He asked.

“I want to take a bath.” I said.

“Go ahead.”

“Together.”
