Shifter [8]

Chapter eight

“Tanzie, I lost the love of my life at seventeen and I don’t want you to go through that.” Lexi started.

“I think it’s too late for that, Lexi.” I said coldly.

“Not for you. You can still save him. Tanzie, you have every power you could ever need. If you want him alive, make it happen.” Lexi said and it occurred to me I might be able to do it. Bring him back to life, I mean. I looked at my hands and put them on his chest. I willed myself to bring him to life. The knife popped out of his chest and landed beside him. The blood retracted back in his chest and the gash sealed itself. His heart started beating again and he started breathing. He opened his eyes and sat up.

“I thought Mia stabbed me. Why am I still here?” He asked. I basically jumped in his lap and kissed him. “Wow, all I had to do was die for that.” He said when I finally let him come up for air.

“Shut up! I really love you, you know?” I said to him as we stood up off of the ground.

“I love you too but that doesn’t solve our problem. We live in two differ-” He started but was cut off my the all to familiar feel of Shifting. I felt the ground leave my feet and replace itself with carpet. I was knocked on my ass for the second time that day.

“Oh my god are you guys okay?” Sawyer started when we all landed safely, but no painlessly, on our buts. She stared at Nate’s direction. “Is that Nate?” She asked. Nate looked questioningly at me.

“You can see him now?” I asked.

“Oh, did I forget to tell you that when you brought him back, it would make him visible in our time?” Lexi inquired.

“Yeah, wait, what does that mean for his time?” I asked as I stood up.

“Well, he was reborn, allowed to live longer than he was supposed to. He wont be seen in his time. He will be as invisible as he was here.” Lexi said.

“But I didn’t even get to see my family. My little sister Ellen and my mom and dad,” He started, “But I have gotten used to it here and I want to be with you Tanzie. I guess I could stay, but there is one problem. I cant stay at your house.” He said to me.

“He’s right. My parents will never go for it.” I agreed.

“No problem. He can stay in the upstairs lounge. I don’t let anyone up there anymore anyway. It has a bed, a couch, a TV. He can stay here until he saves up enough money for his own place.” Lexi said.

“Okay. Well, I’m tired. I hope there are no more surprises for today. I have had enough for a lifetime.” I said.

“Well, there are three more surprises.” Lexi said. “The first one is that you altered destiny’s plans and brought Nate back so he will stay back. For eternity. As in, he is immortal.” She started. I grabbed Nate’s hand and kissed it. “Also, you aren’t a Shifter like we thought, you are, as I told you before, A Transmetamorpher which means you are immortal, too.” I let that sink in, but it wasn’t as big of a shock as the last surprise. “Tranmetamorphication can only be passed down from a parent.” Lexi said.
