Of Love and Lust - Ch. 23
|
Justin and Troy helped Crystal carry some bags out to the car. Tossing them in the trunk, Troy spoke his goodbyes to Crystal and went to join Shelby in the house. Justin had noticed that Shelby hadn't talked to Crystal all morning and questioned Crystal about it as casually as he could.
"Why hasn't Shelby acknowleged your leaving?"
"Cause she knows its not a crisis and that I will be back in no time." Crystal smiled at him slightly, "You, my dear, are the only one with concern."
"I know. I just can't help but feel theres something more to this than you're telling me about. You know me, I do not like to be in the dark about things!"
"Justin. I told you. I'm just doing this so that maybe our wedding day will be more special."
"Why must you make me more anxious than I already will be?"
"Cause I'm a woman, Justin, that's in my job description."
"Fine. Worry me for a month. Torture me until I can no longer bare it." He replied.
"Don't be so dramatic." She leaned up and kissed him softly. "It will seem like no time at all, I promise. Besides if it becomes to unbareable, I am only a mile away." He nodded and she pulled away and got into the car.
"Bye, baby." Justin called. Crystal blew him a kiss and pulled out of the long driveway.
As she traveled down the wooded road, she took everything into perspective, trying to convience herself just one more time that everything she was doing was the right thing. That taking time away from such a smothered existence would help get things cleared in her mind. Her humiliating past with Peter, Shelby and Troy's debacle and then thier reunion, her tarnished relationship with her Uncle, the stressful planing of thier wedding, and now, of course, her pregnancy. It was all too much, so fast. She was experienced enough to handle it all. She needed someone to talk to. She needed her Aunt.
Shortly after her departure from the Micheals Mansion, she pulled up infront of the Walsche Manor. As she got out of the car, she spotted her Uncle and Jason a ways back in the field. Out of hope, that they would see her, she took a chance and waved thier way. A few second later she saw the hand of Jason waving back. She smiled slightly and made her way up the walk to the house. She walked into the house and towards the noise in the kitchen. As she came to the doorway, she saw her Aunt Sara and Erica preparing lunch for the boys. Sara looked up at her and smiled.
"Crystal, honey!" She walked over and greeted her with a hug. "What do we owe the visit?" She questioned.
"I was hoping to stay for a while." She stated as she took a seat at the table.
"Something wrong with you and Justin?" Erica asked. Crystal shook her head with a laugh.
"No, nothing like that. We just thought it would be good for us, to spend the remainder of our time before the wedding apart. So not to spoil such a wonderful day." She stated.
"Or evening rather?" Sara offered. Crystal smiled with a slight blush in her cheeks.
"Something like that."
"Well you are more then welcome to stay for however long you'd like!" Sara stated as she went back to making the boys' lunch. Crystal sat at the table, watching them as she caught Erica's eyes. She was staring at her, in a disbelieving way. Almost like she knew something was up.
"What?" Crystal asked. Erica stared at her a moment more before shaking her head slightly.
"Nothing."
Justin walked into the kitchen where Shelby was helping the cook with dinner that evening. He stood at the doorway a moment and watched.
"Mrs. Nelsen, could you give me and Shelby a moment please?" He asked his cook. She nodded slightly and exited the room. Shelby looked up at Justin.
"What did I do now?" She asked kind of annoyed.
"Nothing, I just want to know what's caused this colder attitude in you?" Justin questioned. "I mean, you used to be such a nice girl."
"Yeah, well all people grow up Justin, even little sisters." She replied.
"True. But that doesn't mean you still can't be a nice girl." He said with a laugh.
"Look, I know you're just trying to be my charming older brother, but I'm just not in the spirits for it."
"Something going on with you and Troy?" he asked. She shook her head, "You and Crystal then?"
"I really don't want to talk about it."
"Well why not? You could always tell me anything." Justin stated. Shelby turned to him abruptly.
"Why did you let her leave?"
"Let her leave?"
"Yes. Why did you let her leave? Why didn't you stop her? Why didn't you ask her what's really going on?"
"Shelby... what are you talking about?"
"I just think that if you really cared about your future with her, then you would have put up more of a fight then you did."
"She's a grown woman, Shelby and I have no right to control her actions."
"You are so blind!" She stated, then began out of the room.
"Shelby!" Justin called as he followed her out of the room. "What has gotten in to you?"
"Crystal... she loves you more than anything, and she's so confused right now and shes under so much pressure with this wedding and what happening to her, and when she needed you the most, you weren't there for her."
"What are you talking about? She said she needed time away, she said leaving was what she needed to do."
"She doesn't know what she needs." Shelby stated. "She thinks being away from her issues is going to help her figure them out and shes wrong. I just know something bads going to come from this Justin, I just know it."
"Shelby... whoa, hey." Justin pulled her into a hug. "Calm down, its all right. OK. Nothing bad is going to happen, Crystal just needed some time to relax from all the wedding planning. Ok? I promise everything will be back to normal after the wedding." He stated. "Then we can get all nice and stressed out again for your wedding. ok?" She pulled back and he smiled down at her. "Ok?" she nodded with a slight laugh.
"Ok."
"All right. Now why don't you go lay down and relax. I'll call you when dinner is ready." Justin stated. She nodded and headed upstairs. Justin sighed slightly and grabbed his head.
"The joy of being around women, sir." Cedric chimmed as he offered Justin a glass of water and some aspirin. Justin laughed lightly.
"Yes, Cedric, the joy indeed."
Sara made her way up to Crystal's room late that evening. She knocked on the door and heard a soft 'come in'. She stepped in slowly and Crystal smiled at her.
"Do you mind? I kind of sensed we needed to have a talk." Sara stated. Crystal nodded.
"Yes...." Sara came into the room and they sat on her bed. Sara grabbed ahold of Crystal's hand.
"So tell me, dear, what kind of talk is this?"
"An everything talk." Crystal replied. Sara nodded. "When did you know that Uncle was the one for you?"
"Hmm... about two weeks after we married." She laughed lightly, "He brought me a rose, for no reason at all. Just handed it to me and said 'I thoguht of you today'. And that's when I knew for sure, that I picked my mister right." She paused a moment, "Are you having second thoughts?"
"Oh, no. Not at all. I'm sure he's the one for me."
"That's good to hear, you almost had me worried there for a moment."
"When did you know you were ready to have children?" Crystal asked as she played with her fingers. Sara eyed her slightly.
"No ones ever ready for children dear, you just, go with it as it comes. Sometimes, children come early in your marriage, sometimes, not at all. God knows when you're ready, he wouldn't send you anything you couldn't handle." Sara replied. Crystal nodded. "Have you two... already been intimate?"
"I've been living with him for months now." Crystal began, "Let's just say... the temptation was just to much to ignore."
"Fair enough." Sara laughed lightly. "Are you afriad that your decisions on those actions brought on something you can't handle?" Crystal looked up at her slightly.
"Maybe."
"Have you told him this? Have you spoke to him about your fears?"
"No."
"Why not?"
"I just... everytime I have a problem, he so quick to try and fix it. And that's wonderful that he would want to do that, but what if its something he can't fix?"
"Well he should still know, that way you can figure things out together. That's what marriage and relationships are about, working together." Sara stated. Crystal nodded.
"Your right."
"So... does this mean you'll be leaving us earlier than planned?"
"No." Crystal smiled, "I think I'll stay around for a few more days."
"Good. We've missed you around here." Sara stood from the bed. Crystal smiled up at her.
"I've missed it here too." She looked around, then clinched slightly as she felt a sharp pain. "Owe." Sara looked at her slightly.
"You ok dear?"
"Yeah.... Yeah. Just a cramp. I'm fine." Crystal rubbed her abdomian slightly.
"You sure?" She asked. Crystal nodded. "All right. I'll see you in the morning."
"Good night."
As Sara left the room, another pain shot through Crystal's body. After the pain subsided, she removed the blankets from ontop of her. She looked down at her gown. Her heart both sank and relieved as she saw the red stain soaking through. She got up and removed her gown and took it into the bathroom. She sighed slightly, believing she had jumped to conclusions about being pregnant. As she started to scrub the stain from her gown, another pain shot through her body. She looked down as she felt something trickling down her leg. Blood. She began to panic slightly. She knew this wasn't right. There was too much blood. Something was wrong. She slipped her gown back own and headed to find her aunt. She reached the end of her bed before a dizzy, light headed feeling came over her. Then, everything started to go black as she tumbled to the floor....
